Geithner: Warren 'Would Be A Very Strong Leader' Of Consumer Bureau
Brian Beutler | July 22, 2010, 10:10AM

Amid reports that he's actively sought to block progressive darling Elizabeth Warren from being appointed to head a soon-to-be-created Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner sung her praises to reporters today. But when pressed, he stopped short of endorsing her or saying that her nomination would please him.

"It's important to recognize that she is, I think, one of the most effective advocates for reform in the country," Geithner said at a Christian Science Monitor breakfast this morning. "She has enormous credibility.... She would be a very strong leader of this bureau, but that's a choice the President will have to make."

Geithner added that he'd not yet made an official recommendation to President Obama, but suggested one will be coming soon.

"We have not yet, we're starting to talk through it, but we have not yet made a recommendation," Geithner said.

5. Timmeh is working on getting Bernie Madoff a pardon.
Like the rest of the economic team, you need the guys who fucked everything up to know how to fix it.

do before he does it. That's just special as hell...

Perhaps waiting until he does something before criticizing the President for doing it would be a good exercise. I don't' know, but that's the principle I follow.

11. I hope Obama, understands.............
this could be a watershed, moment. Having Elizabeth Warren head this agency is literally an alignment of the Stars. She is destined to do this. Obama plays with his future, if he rejects her. Mark these words!

12. What a Charade...
This deal has undoubtedly been signed, sealed and delivered behind closed doors.

I wouldn't be surprised one bit to see Blankfein from GS appointed to this position.

Man, I hate this crap!
