Clear Channel dedicates street furniture program in Oakland

The city of Oakland, Calif. and Clear Channel Adshel have dedicated the first bus shelter installed for Oakland's new citywide street furniture program at Fruitvale Avenue and International Boulevard.

The new bus shelter is part of Oakland's coordinated street furniture program that is providing for the installation and maintenance of 256 new bus shelters with accompanying trash receptacles, along with 22 three-sided information kiosks. The 15-year program is provided at no cost to city taxpayers and the fabrication, installation, operation and maintenance of all amenities is financed by advertising revenues, a portion of which is paid to the city in the form of an annual administration fee.

"We are delighted to join with the city of Oakland to provide hundreds of much-needed public amenities citywide that will add comfort and convenience to Oaklanders' everyday lives, while providing useful public and transit information," says Douglas Watts, president of Clear Channel Adshel. "And most importantly, these structures will be supported for the entire contract term by reliable and accountable maintenance and repair services." (snip/...)

Clear Channel could provide a far more worthwhile public service by giving up its campaign of hatred, political aggression, and polarization aimed directly at the American community.

We don't need their conservative "experts" interpreting current affairs to us, day after day, loaded with anti-Democratic rhetoric and fact-shifting.
