Bush's boat runs aground on beach in Maine

Former President George H.W. Bush's fishing boat ended up high and dry on a beach near his Maine home after it ran aground in thick fog.

Fidelity IV became a curiosity for tourists as it sat stranded on Goose Beach at low tide on Monday. Hours later, his staff moved the boat to its dock in Kennebunkport.

Bush spokesman Jim Appleby says the former president and some family members were aboard when the boat ran aground between 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. No one was hurt.

It must suck to have so much money that you can have a boat named (whatever) IV. And I suppose the owner must also suck in order have gone through three previous boats.

Well, two things actually.

The first thing that would suck is being so unimaginative you have to recycle your boat's name three times. I don't know about you, but if I was such an unlucky sailor I managed to sink my boat like he probably did, I wouldn't put that name on my new boat!

The other thing that would suck, probably worse than only having one name you liked well enough to put on your boat, is being rich enough to own a boat you can take out in the ocean but being too fucking cheap to buy a GPS, Loran-C, INS, radar, or other electrical navigation device that would help you to avoid the shore, or a $100 television tuned to the Weather Channel that would tell you it's too foggy to go out in the ocean today.
