Gingrich says he's considering a presidential run
Source: MSNBC/AP

He calls Obama a 'disaster,' worst president in modern times

DES MOINES, Iowa — Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich says he's considering running for president in 2012 and expects to make a decision by early next year.

In an interview Monday with The Associated Press, Gingrich predicted a Republican would defeat Democratic President Barack Obama in 2012. He called Obama a "disaster" who would go down as the worst president in modern times.

Gingrich says he'll focus on the midterm elections this fall, then decide whether to seek the Republican nomination by next February or March.

Gingrich was in Des Moines for a fundraiser and workshop for local Republican candidates.

16. I can't wait to see the field of 2012 Rethug candidates
To begin with, they no longer have much of a moderate wing in the party. In a couple of straw polls in their conservative PAC conventions, Romney came out ahead. But, they're going to get their shit-blind crazy, Teabagger-stamp-of-approval candidates out there for the primaries. They'll float their extremist agendas with each candidate trying to out-weird the other. Whoever comes out the winner will then have to pretend he never claimed the earth was flat and that the moon landing was faked during the primaries so that he can then appeal to the general electorate. Don't laugh; Newt Gingrich actually doesn't sound like the craziest thing out there in Teabaggistan.

Source: Omaha World Herald-AP

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Monday he's seriously considering seeking the Republican presidential nomination and will announce his decision early next year.

Gingrich, 67, told The Associated Press that he would focus on helping Republican candidates through the midterm elections in November, then decide in February or March whether to seek the GOP nomination.

"I've never been this serious," Gingrich said.

"It's fair to say that by February the groundwork will have been laid to consider seriously whether or not to run," he said.

I love Sarah and think she would make a great President. Sometimes, though, I wish she’d stop talking about two sentences before she does. Like when she just used the word “refutiate” on Hannity.

There’s “refute” and “repudiate”, but I’ve never heard “refutiate”.

Hahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaa.

serving her with divorce papers in the hospital, after cheating with a young employee, explain again why John Edwards isn't viable? Exactly why is he more unacceptable then Newt? Not saying what Edwards did is excusable but I would like an explanation as to why apparently what Newt did is acceptable or excusable?

67. He's pulled up toward the top within GOP polling lately.
Of course, I'm overjoyed by this news.

But I think that the country-club, Wall Street, blue-bloods within the GOP are scared of the snake-handling teabaggers and Newt brings (in their minds) "sensible conservatism".

Of course, I've been saying since 2009 that the nominee will be Jeb Bush, and I'm sticking by that, but Newt/Bush might be a real GOP money-draw, and of course, it puts Florida into play again.

I believe Newt will run.
