Seventh lawsuit filed over Ariz. immigration law
Edited on Sat Jul-10-10 05:22 PM by cal04
Source: Associated Press

A seventh challenge to Arizona's tough new immigration crackdown says training materials designed to teach police officers how to enforce the law give "vague and ill-defined factors" as reasons to question someone's legal status.

Officers aren't supposed to use a person's race to determine whether there's reasonable suspicion they're in the country illegally.

But the lawsuit, filed Friday in federal court, says the training materials developed by state police bosses allow officers to rely on things like whether a person speaks poor English, looks nervous or is traveling in an overcrowded vehicle. They can also take into account whether someone is wearing several layers of clothing in a hot climate, or hanging out in an area where illegal immigrants are known to look for work.

"It's like having a law that tells police to go out and arrest all children but to not use the fact that a person looks like a child," Los Angeles-based attorney Peter Schey, lead counsel for the plaintiffs who filed the lawsuit, said Saturday.

2. This case needs to go all the way to the Supreme Court
We need a ruling from the top court to put an end to these racist state laws once and for all. The right wing is moving in other states to copy the Arizona law. This needs to be smacked down from the top and ended once and for all.

7. well like I have said many times
go to YouTube search for 9500 Liberty Videos and you can learn a lot about this law. The law that was passed and finally rewritten in Prince William County Va. was documented on video and posted at YouTube. It will give you a good working knowledge and many of the things it shows that happened are already starting to happen here in Arizona.

8. SB1070 Will deprive
Arizona businesses of cheap labor and that not going to happen, the governor and the other state officials are using this bill as a tool to get reelected. Its a sham bill and those evil state and federal officials know that, they are using the racist element in this state and through out America to keep their cushy jobs, using hate to retain the money and comfort that go with being in charge.
