Bin Laden's Cook Pleads Guilty At Guantanamo
Source: Reuters

MIAMI (Reuters) - A Sudanese prisoner accused of guarding Osama bin Laden and helping him escape U.S. forces in Afghanistan pleaded guilty at Guantanamo on Wednesday, giving the Obama administration its first conviction in the controversial war crimes court.

Ibrahim al Qosi pleaded guilty to conspiring with al Qaeda and providing material support for terrorism, Guantanamo court spokesman Joe DellaVedova said.

Qosi, who ran the kitchen at bin Laden's Star of Jihad compound in Jalalabad, Afghanistan, has been held at Guantanamo for more than eight years.

His sentence could range from no additional time to life imprisonment, DellaVedova said by phone from the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. A sentencing hearing was scheduled for August 9.

1. Well that makes it all worthwhile then.
Finally, after the wars and murder and destruction, it's all coming together. The cook pleaded guilty to being a cook.

"Mr. Qosi is indeed an extremely dangerous terrorist with a long history of committing terrorist acts against innocent people. The court found that Mr. Qosi, before being hired as a falafel cook at Bin Laden's compound, had long been suspected of being the mastermind of the notorious attack labeled "The corn-dog shooter massacre" that occurred at a Denny's Restuarant in Karachi in 1997. We would like to let all Americans know that we have removed one of the most dangerous terrorists alive today and we assure all of you that Mr. Qosi has rolled his last burrito of terror!"

Eight years in confinement and torture and all the CIA could get out of him was a killer recipe for hummus. Dumbass war!

26. You're right. Hummus is easy to make, especially in these days of blenders and food processors.

Now, if we had gotten his recipe for his shish kabob marinade, it might have been worth it. though, I don't know where to get my hands on a live Afghani lamb anyway.

4. Guilty of cooking food?
WTG...we really nailed his ass to the smokehouse wall.

Just what was he guilty of? Did he prepare the meals for the 9/11 hijackers with little suckers inside?

I wonder sometimes if this country is for real. How about we get the f*ck out of Afghanistan...we try some REAL criminals, like bush, cheney, rumsfeld, rice, etc...and pull our heads out of asses.

It should be a crime to be a republican...but I suppose we can over look that one with the cook for Bin Laden. Such a damn joke.

8. The cook has been at Guantonamo for 8 years and is also bin ladins driver - finally being charged!
Edited on Wed Jul-07-10 03:17 PM by superconnected
He's Sudanese. I wonder if he was legal to work in Afghanistan or if Bin Ladin employs illegal immigrants so he doesn't have to pay them as much? Either way, the cook is going down. Over 1 trillion dollars for the iraq and afghanistan wars and we now have the Sudanese cook/chauffeur! Who we've had for 8 years - since 2002! Thank God. I feel safer now.

"Qosi, who ran the kitchen at bin Laden's Star of Jihad compound in Jalalabad, Afghanistan"

I'm guessing this guy knew more than enough to know what effort he was aiding and who the "Big Satan" du jour was.

I doubt Bin Laden does his hiring from employment agencies or Abdul's List. Before he hires them, I'm guessing he has very good reasons to trust his employees, esp. his cook and his driver, both of whom are in great positions to off him.

Even if they didn't start out knowing what was going on--and I believe they did know--I don't believe they are simply clueless employees who, like Schultz, see nossing, hear nossing and know nossing during their years of working at Bin Laden's elbow.

Hell, if working at "Star of Jihad" alone is not a tip off, you're probably too dumb to drive or cook anyway.
