(GOP) Candidate says Murfreesboro mosque part of movement to fracture Tennessee's moral foundation
Source: WHNT

One of three leading Republican candidates for Tennessee's 6th congressional district has denounced a planned Islamic Center in Murfreesboro.

Lou Ann Zelenik issued a statement Thursday evening saying she stands with those opposed to building what she calls "an Islamic training center." She says the center is not part of a religious movement, but a political one "designed to fracture the moral and political foundation of Middle Tennessee."

Many residents in the suburban Nashville community became aware of the planned center after it had been approved, and an overflow crowd packed a meeting last week to speak against it.

A Zelenik spokesman said she was not available for comment Thursday night. Zelenik, who calls herself a leader in the Middle Tennessee tea party movement, hopes to replace U.S. Rep. Bart Gordon, a Democrat.

4. Was the parenthetic "GOP" really necessary?
I just assumed it was understood, given the candidate's position. Including it with the headline is repetitious and redundant.

5. Fifth rec for you.
I hope she's up for banning churches and synagogues as well, otherwise she's in for an interesting first-amendment lawsuit if she wins and tries anything.

11. We have had this mosque outside of Toledo for years
http://www.arabamericannews.com/news/index.php?mod=article&cat=ProfileofSuccess&article=126

Very interesting story on the history of our local mosque and Islamic center, which is an I-75 landmark near Toledo, OH. We have a fairly large Arab community here, with an even larger one north of Toledo in Dearborn, MI outside of Detroit. Article goes into the happenings in the area after 9-11. The Christian community supported the Islamic community big time and helped defuse a lot of tension.

I have yet to see any fractures of the moral and political foundation of Lucas and Wood Counties.

Thousands of cars drive past here on a daily basis.

This guy would go nuts up here.
