UN: Most of the cocaine going to Europe passes through Venezuela
Source: El Universal

The report launched by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) expresses concern about Venezuela due to the existence of cells of armed insurgent groups, such as the Bolivarian Liberation Front and civilian militias supported by the government

Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador are three of the most affected countries by cocaine trafficking, while Venezuela has become the main source of transit trafficking of cocaine to Europe, according to the World Drug Report 2010, released by the United Nations on Wednesday.

The report also stressed the "deterioration" of the war on drug trafficking in Venezuela, which was "the starting point of more than half of all intercepted shipments of cocaine in the Atlantic over the 2006-2008," while "direct shipments from Colombia accounted for just 5 percent of the total."

The report added that according to US estimates some 70 percent of the cocaine leaves Colombia via the Pacific, 20 percent via the Atlantic and 10 percent via Venezuela and the Caribbean.

1. Wouldn't Europe be the main transit line to the Americas for Heroin?
Just wondering if there is any flow from Europe of drugs.

7. El Univesal owned by the Oil Company taken over by Chavez?
Funny how they try to "Wag the Dog" now that Chavez has taken over an American Oil company. Can we beleive the current world order who looks to maintain the status quo? We overthrew Iran in 1953 just because they demanded to know how much oil BP was pumping out of thier land (BP was to pay taxes on oil pumped but wouldn't let them know how many barrels) and made up a story of them turning Communist. Now since we no longer fear Communism they using the DRUG TRADE to incite the world against Venezuela. Let the OIL COMPANIES fight their own battles. Screw them for a change.

9. UNODC is report not reporting lies
They are reporting data. Sorry if you don't like what the data shows but to brush them off as just a tool being used by oil companies or whomever and essentially saying that their reports are bogus is plain foolish.

10. Until you read the actual report...

You're relying upon an article by a biased media outlet.

They very easily could be distorting or exaggerating what the report actually says.
