Three U.S. soldiers killed in ambushes in Iraq
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/MAR528453.htm

BAGHDAD, March 25 (Reuters) - Two U.S. soldiers were killed and four wounded in two separate attacks on convoys in Iraq on Thursday, the U.S. military said.

In the morning, a roadside bomb exploded near the town of Baquba, 65 km (40 miles) north of the capital, killing one U.S. soldier and wounding two.

In the afternoon, insurgents attacked another convoy east of the restive town of Falluja, 50 km (32 miles) west of the capital, killing one Marine and injuring two with a combination of a roadside bomb, rocket-propelled grenades and small arms.

A U.S. Army spokesman also announced that on Wednesday insurgents had killed a soldier and wounded another in a gun battle just north of Baghdad. U.S. soldiers returned fire and killed three attackers.

2. Why do they say 399 killed, when it's closer to 599 ?
One soldier is too many to die for BushCo illegal invasion for oil.

3. The numbers are all over the place
The reported numbers always lower. And they don't include those that die later of injuries.

8. They like to limit it to "hostile deaths"
As opposed to accidents...as if that made the soldoers any less dead.

Most accurate figures to date---589 US since the start of the hostilities, 59 UK, 42 other coalition forces

40 US this month as opposed to 20 in February

7. These soldiers will be sent home to their mothers. In a casket.
Just so that Bush* could look like "war president" in the election.
Karl Rove's war is only about "the commander in chief". God, this is awful.

14. This will get worse before it gets better
mark my words.
It will get worse.
The Bush admin has created a multi hydra headed terrorist organization thats growing in leaps and bounds daily.
and our soldiers are the ones who will be the targets of the anger.
It will get worse, and more will die because of what the white house did.
The murderers of our kids are the Bush administration.

18. Anyone notice the change in tactics?
Gun battles after the bombings are becoming the norm, it used to be mostly explosions from ieds and rocket propelled grenades.

One has to wonder what is up with that?

22. Same thing, sort of.
Either way, they are not afraid to hang around a while longer.
Do you disagree that the firepower is an issue?
Just wondering what you think, not picking a fight.

24. Oh, I'm sure they're afraid of coalition firepower.
They're not stupid.

I just figure they've figured how long they can stick around after initiating and attack before support shows up.

25. Yes, that makes sense.
I was speculating to myself that there might
be a bit of degradation in the response at work
too, of one sort or another, takes longer for support
to show up maybe. But that is purely speculative,
and what you say is more than sufficient.

26. Let them all
rot in hell for what they've done to our country - Dumbya, Dickhead Cheney, Colon, Condi, Rummy, etc. etc. etc. Words just fail me every time I read these threads. Another Viet Nam. And they didn't die "protecting our country" but protecting Bush and his cronies' oil interests. Disgusting pieces of shit!

28. Kicking...
This needs to be fresh in people's minds after the insult that took place last night. I've been angry since Selection 2000, but last night was the straw that broke the camel's back for me!

And to think that with few exceptions (David Corn being one), the media whores in attendance loved every minute of it. Eat, drink, and be merry while American troops are dying in some far-away place where they should not be at all!

Edited on Thu Mar-25-04 05:59 PM by gulfcoastliberal
Is how I heard the replacement troops rotating into theater being described. They are all newbies to the region and are mostly reservists who before being shipped into Iraq were guarding baggage claims and airport terminals here at home. I heard a segment about them on NPR and how they were getting some remedial training for the deployment, but it didn't sound like it mattered much. Sad. Fuck you, Bush*

Edit: spelling
