(Rep. Steve) King’s ‘favors the black person’ backlash; fundraiser canceled

Iowa’s Steve King is apparently receiving backlash about comments he made Monday that President Obama “favors the black person.”

Republican congressional candidate Cory Gardner has canceled a $100-per-plate fundraiser where King was to speak that was set for Saturday, according to the Coloradoan.com. A campaign official for Gardner declined to elaborate on the reasons for the cancellation. The campaign had sent an e-mail to supporters reminding them of the fundraiser, according to the article.

Gardner is a state representative who is challenging first-term Democratic incumbent Betsy Markey for Colorado’s 4th Congressional District seat.

...

PoliticalCorrection.com, a liberal-leaning Web site that hat publicized King’s quote, used unfair punctuation to emphasize the race issue, said King spokesman John Kennedy.

2. GOP is on a roll!
They no longer care about the Hispanic vote, they don't seem to care about black voters, they certainly don't care about voters who are Muslim--just how the hell do they think they are going to win with that strategy?

7. ROFLMAO. You mean all those Black bank executives and CEOs?
Edited on Tue Jun-15-10 05:56 PM by McCamy Taylor
The Obama DOJ has stopped the senseless persecution of Blacks folks which the Bush DOJ started (see my various journals called "The War Against Black Folks") but other than that he is about the same as Bill Clinton when it comes to most minorities. Regarding Muslims, he has room for improvement.

10. Iowa Republican: Obama favors blacks over whites
Source: AP

WASHINGTON – Democrats on Tuesday denounced an Iowa Republican congressman who says President Barack Obama favors blacks over whites, and a GOP candidate from Colorado canceled a fundraiser the Iowan was to keynote.

Rep. Steve King, known for sometimes incendiary remarks about immigration, Abu Ghraib and other issues, criticized Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder, who also is black, in an interview Monday on G. Gordon Liddy's nationally syndicated radio talk show.

"I'm offended by Eric Holder and the president also, their posture," said King, 61. "It looks like Eric Holder said that white people in America are cowards when it comes to race."

King continued: "The president has demonstrated that he has a default mechanism in him that breaks down the side of race on the side that favors the black person in the case of professor Gates and officer Crowley."

16. Unfair punctuation? as in, "the president favors commas"?
Maybe the goal is to get us so confused about what the staffer meant by "unfair punctuation" that we forget about Steve King's race baiting.
