Media, Kerry to check Bush lies
Edited on Wed Mar-24-04 09:35 PM by JoFerret

The Bush camp is behaving as though the election is eight weeks away, not eight months. It has unleashed millions of dollars in negative ads that are harsh and strong, and the president has left the Rose Garden and come out swinging at Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.).

Its theory: Kerry’s “blackboard,” as seen by the American voter, is barely written on, and the Bush team wants to fill it with negative information before Kerry has a chance to tell his positive story. As a political strategy, that could make sense.

<snip>

But one caution: It is early, and the “fact-checkers,” the press, and the pundits are paying attention.

And one other very big problem: As the first salvo, the Bush campaign and the president himself have deliberately made false and misleading claims against Kerry.

And, he's not a numbers man, he didn't sign that jobs report with his signature on it, he wasn't AWOL or a deserter, etc.

2. time for some rope-a-dope
Let bush exhaust himself. Jab a counterpunch at opportune times. There are many rounds to this fight.

4. You're right, it's rope-a-dope
Kerry's doing the right thing by laying low for awhile. By next week Bush will be a quivering lump of goo and then Kerry can come out with his message of hope, trust and positiveness. If he plays this right, he won't have to go negative at all! The contrast will be striking and undeniable to the masses, it will put a stake right through *'s heart.

5. Don't Forget, Also...
...that they're on the defensive right now. They're doing a pretty poor job of it too, I might add!

6. I see the Bush ads all day long on CNN
I haven't seen any Kerry ads yet. So, i guess i'll have to vote for Bush. :silly:

I can't wait for more of these unfavorable books towards Bush to come out "Worse Than Watergate," by John W. Dean, and "The Politics of Truth," by former Ambassador Joseph C. Wilson, who has criticized the White House's uses of intelligence before the Iraq war. I hope they space there releases apart over next few months.
