5. An apology. No wonder
the families are applauding Clarke. Finally someone takes some shred of responsibility.
Is there no end to the mendacity of these people.

6. And hear this
On the second of two dramatic days of open testimony, one of the most charged moments came when commissioner Tim Roemer, a former Democratic congressman, asked Clarke about a letter he wrote to Bush's national security adviser, Condoleezza Rice, one week before the attacks.

"You urge policymakers to imagine a day after hundreds of Americans lay dead at home and abroad after a terrorist attack and ask themselves what else they could have done. You write this on Sept. 4, seven days before Sept. 11." Clarke simply replied, "Yes."

Where is Rice now? No wonder she is skulking and pouting.
Outrageous. They should be run out of town on a rail, tarred and feathered, hung, drawn and quartered and etc.

8. Thanks. Now this is a great shame...
He denied claims made by the White House that he was working for Mr Bush's rival in the November presidential election, John Kerry.

"The White House has said that my book is an audition for a high-level position in the Kerry campaign," Mr Clarke said. "So let me say here, as I am under oath, that I will not accept any position in the Kerry administration should there be one."

That's from the BBC story - what a shame that now he can't serve in the kerry admin. We need him.

10. He is needed more as a truth teller than serving in a political
position. His very apolitical place enhances his already great credibility.

4. Riveting stuff
"In both the CIA (news - web sites) and the military, there was reluctance at senior career levels to fully utilize all of the capabilities available. There was risk aversion."

He said the Bush administration did not view terrorism as an urgent priority. "The Bush administration saw terrorism policy as important but not urgent, prior to 9/11," he said.

11. He was an example of a true American.
He sold his soul to no one. He maintained and balanced his sense of integrity to both the people and the authority. He was/is absolutely fabulous!!! He is a representative of the courage and innovation and hope of our people. Anyone who demeans him are proof of being part of the consumption of any real democracy.
