England's monarch Queen Elizabeth to visit Ground Zero in July
Source: NY Daily News

Queen Elizabeth will tour Ground Zero next month to pay her respects to the nearly 3,000 innocents slain on 9/11, the British Consulate General said.

The 84-year-old monarch will also officially open the British Garden of Remembrance in nearby Hanover Square, a green oasis of contemplation that honors the 67 British citizens who were killed.

She will be accompanied on the July 6 visit by her husband, Prince Philip - the 88-year-old Duke of Edinburgh - and will later address the UN General Assembly.

The Port Authority, which owns the site, referred calls to British officials, and a Consulate General spokesman confirmed the trip but declined to provide any other details.

9. Thank you. That was genuinely helpful.
I live in Manhattan and I never heard of a Hanover Square. But this town has lots of surprises.

10. I was baffled at first
because we've got a Hanover Square here in London too. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=map+hanover+square+w1&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=Hanover+Square,+London+W1S&gl=uk&ei=MrcQTN2LI5Wy0gT40sTcBQ&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=image&resnum=1&ved=0CBkQ8gEwAA That's already landscaped and I thought at first they were going to re-lay it.

The Kennedy memorial out at Runnymede nr Windsor looks great at night time when its illuminated. It's near the top of a hillside and can seen from the road some distance away.

5. Shouldn't they change the name from "ground zero" to
the "big fucking hole in the ground because we can do shit in this country anymore except kill people from other countries".

I mean, enough of the Orwellian bullshit already people.

11. It's a good name ...
... for a piece of ground with zero interest these days to anyone
who reads the news ...

Good job the Queen is polite & well-mannered or she might park her helicopter
in the middle of the flower beds (like GWB did when he visited her place).

6. Check out this comment
"Obama's boss is coming to town. Remember, he is only the local Commander in Chief. Understand, no one in the US government determines who, what, when, where and why these trials are held. The United States is just a corporation which is owned by the Vatican, international bankers and aristocracy of Europe and Britain. This is why there is no control over employment, the economy, debt, healthcare or anything else."

This is news to me, and i am very concerned !

12. Thanks, dipsydoodle. She looks very capable for someone 84 years old!
Hope she will have a safe trip.

Looking forward to hearing about her visit.
