Dying, dead marine wildlife paint dark, morbid picture of Gulf Coast following oil spill
Source: New York Daily News

Here's what President Obama didn't see when he visited the Gulf Coast: a dead dolphin rotting in the shore weeds.

"When we found this dolphin it was filled with oil. Oil was just pouring out of it. It was the saddest darn thing to look at," said a BP contract worker who took the Daily News on a surreptitious tour of the wildlife disaster unfolding in Louisiana.

His motive: simple outrage.

"There is a lot of coverup for BP. They specifically informed us that they don't want these pictures of the dead animals. They know the ocean will wipe away most of the evidence. It's important to me that people know the truth about what's going on here," the contractor said.

"The things I've seen: They just aren't right. All the life out here is just full of oil. I'm going to show you what BP never showed the President."

Dead dolphin covered in oil There is ample evidence regarding the negative effects of ingesting,
inhaling or simply being covered in oil

Dolphins
From April 30 to May 27, there have been 24 dead dolphins verified within the designated spill area. So far, one of the 24 dolphins had evidence of external oil. It was found on an oiled beach. We are unable at this time to determine whether the animal was externally covered in oil prior to its death or after its death. The other 23 dolphins have had no visible evidence of external oil. Since April 30, the stranding
rate for dolphins in Louisiana has been higher than the historic numbers for the same time period in previous years. This may be due to increased detection and reporting and the lingering effects of the earlier observed spike in strandings.

*Strandings are defined as dead or debilitated animals that wash ashore

This a great blog..filled with justifiable outrage...and facts.

5. A chunk of info from that blog...

June 01, 2010
Consolidated Fish and Wildlife Collection Report – June 1, 2010 (85.14 KB)

By the way – they don’t count fish, squid, jellyfish, crustaceans, lizards, bees, dragonflies, sharks, porpoises, tuna, large game fish, whales, whale calves, and numerous others of the over 400 species in the Gulf of Mexico and coastal areas that are also being found dead or dying.

There is smaller type on this thing every day – and they are re-working it to make it fancier – how nice. (that was not because I think it is a good use of their time.)

506 dead birds collected – I guess none died between yesterday and today.

584 birds collected in distress from oil / hydrocarbons totally – 24 released

253 total sea turtles collected with 228 plus 3 dead (at least)

228 sea turtles collected dead – but a number of them three or more at least died after being collected alive and in distress covered with oil / hydrocarbons

29 mammals – dolphins collected total – all of which were dolphins listed – as noted elsewhere

29 mammals – dolphins collected dead of the total of 29

and one other reptile is listed – also collected alive – no indication of what

And, there are numbers that aren’t counted which were also found dead and if they have been killed in the first part of the event – now over a forty-two day period – then they aren’t listed, nor counted.

And, there aren’t simply three kinds of animals in that region. Nor do the numbers show any of the other 400 species being affected by the oil including the countless fish that have been found dead laying in the waters and along the coasts and in the marshes.

So, this also appears on the above page – at this link on the reports -

Contractor: BP Is Trying To Hide Dead Animals, Since The Ocean Will Eventually Wash Away The Evidence

...................................

On Monday, journalists from the New York Daily News were also “escorted away from a public beach on Elmer’s Island bycops who said they were taking orders from BP.” However, they managed to get a covert tour of the Queen Bess barrier island from a BP contractor who is fed up with the oil company’s attempt to cover up the disaster:

“There is a lot of coverup for BP. They specifically informed us that they don’t want these pictures of the dead animals. They know the ocean will wipe away most of the evidence. It’s important to me that people know the truth about what’s going on here,” the contractor said.

.............................”

The grasses by the shore were littered with tarred marine life, some dead and others struggling under a thick coating of crude.

“When you see some of the things I’ve seen, it would make you sick,” the contractor said. “No living creature should endure that kind of suffering.”

“BP is going to say the deaths of these animals wasn’t oil-related,” the contractor added. “We know the truth. I hope these pictures get to the right people — to someone who can do something.”

9. It's too much to think about
but everyone really needs to be on top of this one.

It looks like BP will get away with this, not having to pay any real price. The animals and people of the Gulf will have to live with this for years. It will affect the rest of the planet as well but sometimes people just turn the channel.

People who see pictures of dead and dying animals will be moved to make BP take some responsibility. If only enough people see what's happening there. I notice most of the news coverage I see shows oily water but very few animals are shown. When they are, the animals are being cared for and look like they will recover. You have to look hard for pictures of what the area actually looks like now.

If only there were more journalists still on tv, rather than so much 'on air talent'.

17. Since the Corporate Takeover of the former USA passed the Point of No Return
We can argue about what specific date that was, 12/12/2000, 9/11/2001, or any date before or since.

But, rest assured, it HAS happened and nothing can change it

THAT'S why they call it the "Point of No Return".

11. Oh, they're gonna show us
the 8 rescued birds being washed and talk about their new lease on life.

But maybe with so many witnesses on the Gulf the perpetrators of this horror show won't get away with it.
