Energy czar: Oil spill worst in U.S. history

The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is the worst in U.S. history, President Barack Obama's energy and climate czar said Tuesday.

Carol Browner, the head of the White House Office of Energy and Climate Change Policy, said that the administration is doing all it can to work with BP and Gulf Coast states to address the spill.

"I don't think there's any doubt, unfortunately," Browner said on ABC's "Good Morning America" when asked if the spill was the worst in history.

No official estimate of the extent of the spill has been released at this point, partly because BP has only released official estimates, and has not allowed independent measures. The spill's most directly comparable historical event was the 1989 Exxon Valdez spill in Alaska, which released some 10.8 million gallons into U.S. waters.

13. Someone posted here recently that this was no biggie, compared to other oil/sea accidents. So,

maybe having someone from Obamadmin say it is useful. Of course, even that is not proof enough for some. You have to have video of Obama himself saying it twice, or it doesn't count.

3. time to unleash the oil eating microbes occuring naturally in the gulf - according to a

series of reports on a previous oil spill in mexico/yucatan, recovery was much faster than expected because of naturally occuring microbes present in the gulf because of thousands of years of slow natural oil leaks.

It's better than bragging about how bad the "spill" is.

Which reports would you be referring to? I see no links at all in your post.

Also, is there is a microbe ranch somewhere that is gearing up to send tankers full of the little critters to eat up all the oil?
