Seattle votes to boycott Arizona over immigration law
Source: Seattle PI

Potential revenue from tickets issued to drivers running red lights apparently trumps the City of Seattle's anger over a controversial new immigration law in Arizona.

The City Council on Monday unanimously passed a resolution directing departments to not send employees to the Grand Canyon State and to refrain from doing new business with firms in Arizona to protest the new law.

But because the resolution isn't retroactive, the city will keep in place a $1 million contract with a Scottsdale company that operates cameras that monitor whether drivers run red lights.

The measure also urges the federal government to reform immigration policies.

6. Keep saying that, and spare our parks and forests the trampling...

Yes, it rains. But you haven't been here the last 10 days obviously, because the weather is like heaven on earth. No place in America is more beautiful than Seattle in the sun, which is only possible because of the rain we get otherwise.

Yes, I'm biased. But I chose to live here, after growing up in El Paso, TX (ugh) AND living 7 years in Malibu, CA and 4 years in Honolulu, Hawaii. Seattle beats them all hands down.

Peace

P.S. - We welcome tourists, btw. But our parks are over-loved because of their beauty. Funny how the rain doesn't seem to stop any of that, huh.

3. oh noes!11! this means arizonians won't vacation in seattle!!!11
Of course, they couldn't make this retroactive. The Arizona outfit that runs the traffic cameras gets $50 for every "ticket" the city issues on their behalf. (These cameras are all about revenue, not safety.) So, surprise! Seattle takes the easy way to protect their heinous cash cow.

Take it from me who learned to drive in L.A.

And those cameras are stupid money-making traps that should be outlawed.

The only reason we have to come up with strange ways to make money is because Tim Eyeman keeps cajoling voters to vote against their own interests (although he's on a losing streak lately).

11. here is a list from Palin/ Brewers' securetheborder, org website
of folks boycotting AZ, or considering it

Of course, they want people to contact those on this list and let them know they support AZ & not the boycott. But it can be used to do just the opposite - so contact and let them know you support their boycott of AZ!
