1. Totally insane...
I watched the tornado that hit Norman form.
Peace to everyone affected. It's going to be a rough couple of days here in OK.

2. a tornado actually hit Norman?
Edited on Mon May-10-10 09:55 PM by fishwax
seems they used to always head straight for us and then veer north to Moore. Couldn't count how many times I saw that trajectory while I was there.

Best vibes to the folks in Oklahoma. Be safe.

5. Yep, we actually got one.
I saw the rotation form and the up and down drafts from my yard in core Norman (I'm about a mile from the university).
Roads east of down are trashed. And we're in for a bumpy ride the rest of the week, too.

3. I have a great nephew and niece and their baby who live
in Yukon. I see where they had a tornado there also. I haven't heard from his parents or grandparents as of yet. I hope they are OK.

4. It's been updated to 6 fatalities
We had at least two simultaneous bands of tornadoes going on at the same time. One hit Norman and did some damage to buildings and threw a couple of vehicles off the road and the other, more intense one, went the usual route from Moore to OKC then east to Choctaw. That one did extensive damage to homes, businesses, power lines and mobile homes, especially around I-40 and Choctaw Road. The tornado in Norman caused no fatalities and minor injuries.
