New Kerry ad out Monday -
http://apnews.myway.com/article/20040322/D81FHHP84.html

By RON FOURNIER

WASHINGTON (AP) - John Kerry introduces himself to voters in a television ad unveiled Monday, promising "a new direction for America" from a war-tested Democrat.

Titled "Fought for America," the 30-second ad airing in 17 states beginning Tuesday says Kerry has "the military experience to defend America" and the policies to improve health care and the economy.

"We need to get some things done in this country: affordable health care, rolling back tax cuts for the wealthy, really investing in our kids. That's why I'm running for president," Kerry says in the commercial, which includes footage of him emerging from the jungles of Vietnam more than 30 years ago.

The fourth-term Massachusetts senator and decorated Vietnam veteran is trying to define himself before President Bush and his GOP allies do.

The president is spending more than $6 million on broadcast TV alone to label Kerry a soft-on-terrorism, tax-raising, flip-flopping liberal. Kerry spent less than a third of that amount on his first commercial, accusing Bush of "misleading America" with negative ads.

Kerry's latest commercial, his second, contains no direct criticism of Bush. His advisers, confined to a budget of more than $2 million for the new ad, are hoping that voters will reject the White House's negative ads and learn more about the Democratic challenger who emerged from the primary season ill-defined and underfunded.

before Shrub does it negatively for him.

8. Made by first donation
to Kerry. First year I've given to politicians except I gave to Dean, of course. I hope Kerry starts getting some donations as it sounds like he is low on cash to even run ads. Hard to hit back if you don't have the money.

13. GOOD for you (us)!
The chimp has $160 million to trash Kerry. The rich are paying back their tax-cut-bribe with $2000 donations to the "lie house".....

11. A good ad, but one suggestion for future ads,
when saying positive lines like "really provide education for our kids" DON'T shake your head NO! Body language is very important.

5. Kerry fought in Vietnam.
Freepers like to make fun of the ease with which that fact comes out of the campaign but too bad for them it's a cold harsh fact which makes for a nice introduction for many American who know not a thing about John Kerry.
It's an especially relevant fact post 9/11 and with so many of our troops in harms way in many more theaters than just 3 years ago.
Laugh all you want Kerry detractors- it's a cold reality John Kerry lived through and helps people to understand who he really is.

7. I think that the "new direction for America line"
plays nicely into all those "right direction/wrong direction" polls. People think that the US is headed in the "wrong direction", and here is Kerry saying he'll take us in a new direction. I think that cuts right to the heart of the issue.

I'm also glad to finally see him putting out that photo from his Vietnam days.
