SC reps introduce illegal immigration bill similar to AZ's
Source: Live 5 News

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) — A handful of South Carolina legislators want an illegal immigration law as tough as Arizona's new rules.

A group of House Republicans introduced a bill on Thursday requiring police to check immigration status of people they stop and have reasonable suspicion the person is in the country illegally.

It also allows arrests without warrants if the person commits an offense that makes them eligible to be removed from the country and requires a federal check on immigration status before someone can be released.

People with valid driver's licenses or other government-issued ID cards would be presumed be in the U.S. legally.

Wow, the Republicans are on a racism/fascism roll. Maybe they will be introducing universal identification tattoo requirements to facilitate enforcement. What happened to the party of small government?

1. All of this legislation clearly was ready to go in multiple states
It is a coordinated effort from some force larger than state legislatures, and even larger than Michael Steele's RNC. A journalist should track the source.

Maybe they can put up a sign in NC "Pedro says, stay the hell out! South of the Border" Then again, they may not be able to keep "Pedro" as a spokesman.

6. Perhaps NC and Georgia should build a wall around SC where the people are poorer and take
jobs from deserving people in neighboring states. If they're going to go with the "secure the borders" mantra, they really need a wall (and troops/border guards, motion sensors, and remote cameras). ;)

5. Well, we here in SC can

still take our wives to the courthouse steps and beat her in public once a month. (True, there is still such a law on the books) I have as my Rep's, Jugghead Joe Wilson, and a still in the closet McCain/Liebermann "man" friend as one US Senator, and a De-Minted retard for the other. I am so ashamed of our state with our 'Lovernator" governor hiking some Argentinian tail, and the band of "Good Ole' Boys that call themselves our State Legislature. There is nothing, and I do mean nothing, that these loony birds can do that will surprise me. I guess that our legislators don't want Arizona, or anywhere else, getting all the recognition as the most retarded state in the union.

9. welcome to DU, PNutt
Not a whole lot of folks from SC on this board. Oh, and I can't disagree with anything you said. The only good thing is I think today is the deadline to get legislation on the calendar for this year; otherwise, it has to get unanimous consent to be taken up. Hopefully by next session this crap will have been ruled unconstitutional.
