North Carolina Beach Town Bans Thongs
Source: CNN

If you plan on going to Kure Beach, North Carolina, bring your sunscreen and shades, but please leave your thong behind.

The seaside community has adopted a zero tolerance policy on anyone wearing the barely-there bikini by the shore on their part of North Carolina's Pleasure Island, just south of Wilmington. . . . .

He also suspected the decision on the thongs could end up in court and blamed liberals for that.

"You can file a suit -- the way this country is leaning so far left, it wouldn't surprise me," he said.

Yeah, this country's leaning so far left :sarcasm:

Next thing you know, they'll all be running around naked!

from society under patriarchal religious dictates --

the other supports belief in our need for fig leafs, Garden of Evil sin --

The human body is beautiful -- in most cases.

It does concern me that only females have been wearing them on the beaches -

should be both male and female, or neither!

Personally, I agree the thong is "over."

10. Bikini isn't a thong . . .
And lots of men wear bikinis --

many older men who don't look very attractive in them!

5. I've been to that beach
you don't want the people that hang out here to be wearing a thong.

I think this law is being put in place to protect the "viewing" public.

13. A vision! As a visitor from the Northeast, I went to Florida and saw
a sight far more amusing---if that is the word---than a woman wearing a thong.

Two guys walking on the beach in Ft. Lauderdale, wearing what appeared to be little, tiny squares of nylon to cover their privates. I don't even know what this outfit is called but a thong is full coverage compared to what these guys were wearing.

19. Does that mean they had little, tiny....
...privates? I think those are called loin cloths...or tenderloin cloths.

What's up with NC? I just read a story about a high school female who was tasered because she was uncooperative about being forced to go see the principal. Back in my useless high school, tasering would have been a frequent occurrence if they had those things then!

15. My NC town just approved beer and wine sales. Its two thousand and freaking TEN
and my hometown just passed beer and wine sales in the face of a HUGE right-wing Christian outcry against he evils of alcohol.

Nothing surprises me about about NC.

and thanked him for banning thongs. I told him that the site of all the cellulite on those conservative's thong-wearing asses ruined my vacation to Kure Beach and that I commended him for taking a stand.

27. Myrtle Beach SC
has a similar rule in place:

http://www.cityofmyrtlebeach.com/misclaws.html

Sec. 14-83. Indecent exposure (NOTE: This law makes the wearing of "thong" bathing suits and similar clothing illegal in public, including on the beach.)

29. "The Law Is for Protection of the People" - Kris Kristofferson:
Billy Dalton staggered on the sidewalk
someone said he stumbled and he fell
Six squad cars came screamin' to the rescue
hauled old Billy Dalton off to jail

Cause the law is for protection of the people
rules're rules and any fool can see
We don't need no tramps like Billy Dalton
scaring decent folks like you and me no siree

Homer Lee Hunnicut was nothing but a hippie
walking through this world without a care
Then one day six strapping brave policemen
held down Homer Lee and cut his hair

Cause the law is for protection of the people
rules're rules and any fool can see
We don't need no hairy headed hippie
scaring decent folks like you and me no siree

So thank your lucky stars you've got protection
walk the line and never mind the cost
And don't wonder who them lawmen were protecting
When they nailed the Saviour to the cross

Cause the law is for protection of the people
rules're rules and any fool can see
We don't need no little sneaking prophets
scaring decent folks like you and me no siree
