Bush Still Gets More Blame for Economy Than Obama (Gallup Poll)
Source: gallup

Of the three party groups, only Republicans say Obama bears more blame than Bush

PRINCETON, NJ -- More than a year into Barack Obama's presidency, Americans are more likely to say George W. Bush is responsible for today's economic problems than they are to say Obama is responsible. Gallup shows a significant uptick since last July in the percentage of Americans blaming Obama at least a moderate amount (from 32% to 50%), but little decrease (from 80% to 75%) in the percentage blaming Bush.

11. I so agree with your "Uh" statement!
What gets me is that if we had a surplus during Clinton, a Repub comes in and we have a HUGE deficit when he leaves office, then another democrat comes in and has to figure out ways to fix that deficit... how could the repub that created the deficit (among a million and one other terrible issues he created and implemented for America)... not be the "ir"responsible party held accountable for the mess THEY MADE?

Isn't that simple logic? Common sense? The way it works????

For the people that believe this is Obama's mess... how do they come to that conclusion? Because facts and logic prove it is the BA's fault!

17. Four words: Repeal of Glass Steagall
Edited on Sun Apr-25-10 01:49 AM by No Elephants
In general, Clinton seems to have loved him some Reagan Republican policies.

And since Reagan, perhaps somewhat before him, things have not been as simple or as clear as Democrat v. Republican.

It would be nice if it were that simple and clear, but it isn't.

For one thing, lobbying has increased many fold since Reagan. It's more about lobbyists v. the rest of America now.

3. We ain't dead yet!
(apologies to Monty Python)

This must be due to the few remaining intact brain cells left in the collective IQ of Americans.
Glenn Beck, Fox, and most of the MSM desperately want those brain cells!

4. Hopefully the "left wing media" will blame Obama and Democrats for the economy turning around
I realize unemployment is still a big problem, but all signs point to an economy on the upswing. The more comfortable businesses are that things are improving the more likely they are to hire. The lefty media needs to report on that.

12. I Argue With the Righties Everyday About This!
They want to use the excuse that the Democrats had the majority in Congress for the last 4 years being the reason why things went sour under Bush. That would be dandy except for one thing. Bush and the Republican Congress ran up most of the debt from 2000-2006. That was when he gave the richest 1% a huge tax cut and Bush got us into two wars. None of which was paid for. Nice try douche bags! But your Bush fuzzy math doesn't work!

13. Bush's role in the housing bubble was enormous

That was a postmortem recap of Bush's role in the housing bubble. But here's a premortem prediction from Dean Baker, all the way back in 2004:
