Bush to Take Re-Election Fight to Florida Rally
By Caren Bohan Sat Mar 20,12:30 AM ET

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush on Saturday will take his fight for re-election to Florida, site of the 2000 vote recount saga, as he tries to whip up support in a state that promises to be hard fought once again.

It will mark Bush's 20th visit to the electorally rich "Sunshine State," whose presidential vote four years ago was only determined after the intervention of the U.S. Supreme Court. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=584&e=1&u=/nm/20040320/pl_nm/campaign_bush_dc

The president will not shy away from attacking his Democratic rival, John Kerry, and he is expected to revive depictions of the Massachusetts senator as a flip-flopper who is weak on defense. .....

"The president will talk about the clear choice between the plan he has laid out for the country and Senator Kerry's plan," said Scott Stanzel, spokesman for the Bush-Cheney '04 campaign. ........

The President's brother, Jeb Bush, who is governor of Florida, will attend the rally.

The "clear" Choice is if you vote for the ape-- he will draft your child and that child will probably be killed or maimed in a War for oil. If you vote for the other guy he is "weak" on defense.

Not much of a choice for anyone with a brain. ( my apologies to George Will)

4. MSNBC reporting on huge "grassroots" movement starting after rally
The reporter just mentioned it (saying "grassroots") at least three times. Just after this rally 90-100K will branch out around the state to knock on doors. The reporter was sure to announce that this was a "massive grassroots" effort and the key to winning the state that gave W the win in 2000.

This appears to be W's first campaign event and the official opening on his campaign.....how many "beginnings" has he had now?

ABC reporter and NFL Hall of Famer Lynn Swann and the ever relevant Billy Ray Cyrus will also be there. Jeb will be in attendance and Laura will intorduce her husband.

5. Shouldn't that title read...
..."Bush to Take Re-Selection Fight to Florida Rally"? Must just be a misprint?

6. Protests.Red Balloons greeting *

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/elections/orl-asecparty20x032004mar20,0,6461812.story?coll=orl-dp-weekend-2-main

snip

Central Florida Democrats plan to line International Drive holding red balloons symbolizing the "ballooning national deficit."

Others are expected in an area set aside for protesters at International Drive and Convention Way, by the center's pedestrian overpass. But local Democratic Party leaders said they would not be corralled in an easily ignored spot.

"They want you in a little box that they can control," said Doug Head, chairman of the Orange Democrats. "I'm not buying into that. I'm planning to flood the area."
snip

"Isn't it ironic that the president has chosen Florida to kick off his campaign, when Florida has been hit so hard by Bush policies," Nelson asked.
snip

One place protesters won't be welcome is inside the convention center itself.

But they don't want any hecklers inside.

"Nobody is checking credentials at the door, and we're not checking voter identification records," Oliver said. "But it's not a public event; it's a campaign event. It's rude and infantile, in my opinion, to come inside and try to disrupt a campaign event."

snip
Oliver said the GOP would compile the names of those people to create a database of potential volunteers.

11. It looks like an open call audition for the"Music Man"
"Sorry, the role of con-man Harold Hill has already been cast."

Dems should use Sousa music, it's stirring without being mindless. But that overblown Wagnerian intro for Shrub was almost creepy.

I don't mean to make too strong of a comparison with rallies I've seen in certain Riefenstahl films, because the fact is you don't have to be a Nazi to be a fascist.
