New York State GOP gubernatorial hopeful Carl Paladino has 10-year-old love child

ALBANY - A controversial conservative businessman who will announce his run for governor Monday fathered a child during an extramarital affair a decade ago.

Buffalo developer Carl Paladino, 63, has been married nearly 40 years to his wife, Cathy.

The two had three grown children together - one of whom died in a car crash last year. It was only after that tragedy that Paladino confessed to his wife he had a secret love child, a now-10-year-old girl. A Buffalo-area source identified the child's mother as Sue Brady, an ex-staffer of Paladino's Ellicott Development company.

"The Paladinos consider this a private family matter and ask all media to respect their privacy," said campaign manager Michael Caputo, who would not confirm the woman's name.

...because how can a candidate fight for family values if they don't understand the threats first-hand?

5. Fun press conference:
"I am here to announce my candidacy." Ten seconds later, "so, as you can see, I am suspending my campaign to spend more time with my family."

FASTEST. CAMPAIGN. EVER.

6. IN A REALATED STORY... brady bunch denies all ties to teabaggers
"we embrace this newest member to our family... though we decline health care for her and her slut mother who had sex after trapping the married man in a method not at all like the heratic democrats do. this was not a matter of sex, it was LOVE, hence the term LOVE CHILD. it was like that argentina thing, with passion and LOVE... did we mention LOVE. and the 10-year-old newest member of our family--- who was IGNORED FOR 10 YEARS BY HER FATHER.... well let it be known that she understands and is just hap-hap-happy as a little girl can be".

20. cue the sappy music
Republican Family Values

"Do As I Command. . .but don't look in my closet because it's all a liberal conspiracy."

Elliot Spitzer was forced to resign, but Jon Ensign is still there in the Senate.

We love double standards.

7. "a private family matter " Riiiiiiight
Just like one's sexual orientation, or birth control, or abortion or any of a myriad other issues that should be private but the GOP has to constantly drag out into the spotlight (except when it involves them).

8. 'a private matter' - but they'll use the 10 year old girl for a photo-op today
"The Paladinos consider this a private family matter and ask all media to respect their privacy," said campaign manager Michael Caputo, who would not confirm the woman's name.

At the same time, Paladino won't run away from the issue - or his young daughter - on the campaign trail, Caputo said. The little girl, his older children and his wife are all set to be at his campaign kickoff in Buffalo tonight.

And the guy is anti-gay marriage. From his web site:

"But make no mistake: I am opposed to extending the benefits of traditional marriage to gays and lesbians, as I view marriage as a union of a man and a woman. No wiggle words, no "ifs," "ands" or "buts." That's the way I was brought up and, to me, it is just that simple."

Was he also brought up to view marriage as a vague living arrangement you can take a break from when you feel like some hot sex - as long as it's heterosexual? I think the voters should be told.

11. Well, he didn't marry his piece on the side, did he?
So, see, his marriage is just a man and a woman, with a little extra something for the man. I'm sure that Mr. Paladino would be totes understanding if it turned out that one of his wife's kids turned out to have a father-not-Mrs.-Paladino's-husband. He's a big-hearted guy, see?

See?

{Tsk} You "gotcha" Democrats never seem to see.

I mean mistress, trips on the taxpayers dime to South America to see their girl friends. Tsk tsk tsk never understand it.

18. yup. he's a winner, that one.
he used to really try to play up the "independent maverick" image around here, but he's clearly put himself in the far right recently, even floating the idea of running on the tea party ticket.

22. I can't say that...
I have R's in my family, but I can say they are disillusioned over what the GOP has become.

One thing is apparent though, those that are getting the press leave a lot to be desired...;)

19. He could have Vito Fossella for his running mate
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vito_Fossella

Vito John Fossella, Jr. (born March 9, 1965) is a former U.S. Republican politician from the state of New York who represented the state's 13th Congressional district (map) in the U.S. House of Representatives for six terms, from 1997 to 2009 serving as the lone Republican from New York City. Fossella, a Staten Island native, was born to a family that included several politicians. Fossella initially took office in 1997, after winning a special election held to replace the resigning Susan Molinari.

After a DUI arrest in Alexandria, Virginia on May 1, 2008, followed by the public disclosure a week later that he had an affair with Laura Fay, a retired US Air Force lieutenant colonel that had resulted in a 3-year old child while being married, he announced on his official website on May 20 that he had chosen to serve out the remainder of his term, which ended on January 3, 2009, but decided not to run for re-election.
