The Secret Service Is Investigating a Conservative's Obama Assassination Tweets
Source: Daily Finance

As Congress entered the final round of debate Sunday over the controversial health insurance reform bill, a self-described conservative blogger used his public Twitter account to urge the assassination of President Barack Obama. U.S. Secret Service spokesperson Max Milien confirms to DailyFinance: "We are aware of the actual posting and are actively investigating." A request for comment from a Twitter spokesperson hasn't been returned.

As the blog Jezebel has reported, Soloman (Solly) Forell, apparently enraged by the impending passage of the health insurance reform bill, used his Twitter account to call for the assassination of Barack Obama, while also tweeting that since the country survived the assassinations of Lincoln and Kennedy, "we'll surely get over" this one, too.

5. welllllllll, calling for the assassination of a sitting President should
qualify as "terrorist" behavior. And following the clear guild lines set forth by the Bush administration ol' Solly should be immediately stripped of his US citizenship and given a free ride to Gitmo where he can be held indefinitely without outside contact, lawyer or trial.

18. If it did happen it would be irony with a dash of karma to boot.
I would though of course have to oppose that being done.

23. I agree. Please understand, I'm not advocating this action
although I do agree it would be a delicious irony for teagaggers to fall victim to their own decisions(ie: Bush policies that the applauded and endorsed).

And, sadly, I would enjoy watching it happen.......if only for a few days.......yes, I do enjoy me some schaudenfreud.....and I am a little ashamed.....only a little tho' :-)

7. Ame. So far they only seem to think that peace and civil rights activists are worth arresting
the teabaggers get away with everything short of outright violence.

18 USC 41 § 871. Threats against President and successors to the Presidency

You know, the one that reads as follows;

Whoever knowingly and willfully deposits for conveyance in the mail or for a delivery from any post office or by any letter carrier any letter, paper, writing, print, missive, or document containing any threat to take the life of, to kidnap, or to inflict bodily harm upon the President of the United States, the President-elect, the Vice President or other officer next in the order of succession to the office of President of the United States, or the Vice President-elect, or knowingly and willfully otherwise makes any such threat against the President, President-elect, Vice President or other officer next in the order of succession to the office of President, or Vice President-elect, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both.

17. They really need to make these people do some time in jail
Such threats to the life of a president should not be allowed to escalate.

And, sorry to say, if anyone here called for the assassination of Bush, I would have turned them in. Calling for the assassination of the president, no matter the party, is a threat to our democracy.

When, in years past, have we seen things such as men with sidearms at presidential appearances?
