HARRISBURG, Pa., March 18 /PRNewswire/ -- PA Governor Edward G. Rendell today endorsed legislation planned by state Reps. Michael Veon, D-Beaver, and Michael P. McGeehan, D-Philadelphia, that will reduce the overseas outsourcing of U.S. jobs by rewarding bidders for Commonwealth service contracts who agree to use domestic workers when fulfilling a contract.
"The Veon-McGeehan proposal, which I fully support, will use the Commonwealth's power as a buyer of services to encourage companies to keep jobs in the United States," Governor Rendell said. "Some 690,000 American jobs were lost to overseas outsourcing in the years 2001-2003, and estimates suggest that 3.3 million service jobs will have gone overseas by 2015. I firmly believe that we can and should slow that trend where possible."
...ah, sweet victory!
