Big tsunami wave hits town

WASHINGTON - A HUGE wave measuring 2.34 metres crashed onto the Chilean coastal town of Talcahuano early Saturday, triggered by a massive earthquake, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said.

The wave hit just over three hours after an 8.8-magnitude quake struck central Chile.

Talcahuano was among about 11 coastal towns that were hit by a tsunami wave, the center added in a statement.

4. I believe so.
It is 7.67716' or 7' 8.12"

The height can be misleading though. I'm not so great at explaining it, but there is more to it than the height.

12. Yours is a "deep" question.
Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and other underwater explosions (detonations of nuclear devices at sea), landslides and other mass movements, bolide impacts, and other disturbances above or below water all have the potential to generate a tsunami.

10. Hopefully everyone managed to get to high ground --
There's been a long history of large quakes and tsunamis in Chile. And I'm pretty sure they have developed a decent early warning system or are hooked into the Pacific Tsunami early warning system; even an hour might be enough to get most people evacuated.

13. Any suggestions
on where to watch video as the tsunami reaches Hawaii? I'm sure there are going to be live cams recording the event, just not sure what would be best.

MIA today (probably in church beating their bibles). We're not to criticize them so I figure why not join them?
