4. That was a quote from Haig right after Reagan got shot
He tried to take over the Presidency, rather than going through protocol

9. Yep - FTR the man tried to get rid of the Park Service
And fold it all into the USFS. This may sound like a petty grievance, until you realize you cannot log on NPS lands, but you can on USFS lands.

27. Minor point...
any president who served out their term(s) and neither resigned nor was removed, is actually properly referred to as a "former president". The only officeholder who could really have been described as an "ex-president" was Richard Nixon, who resigned from office rather than face almost certain impeachment by the House.

Was what he was rumored to have told Reagan when they invaded in 1983

I've heard that Reagan found him too extreme and that's one of the reasons he went. When you're too extreme for a right wing ideologue like Raygun, that's saying something

Another story about Haig was that he assumed that US Senator Spark Matsunaga was a member of a visiting Japanese delegation to the White House and asked him whether he spoke English. Matsunaga replied in the affirmative and then reminded Haig that he had voted for his confirmation in the Senate a few days before
