1. I've been watching this
and once again the Republicans are showing their 'true colors' yellow. <--this is in reference to the stupid congresswoman (NC) acting like a redneck and saying these colors don't run. I'm from NC, so I know a 'redneck racist' when I see one and she's one!
The republicans didn't allow one amendment to this piece of crap they are trying to ram through. They've been running the house like this from the get go the house is not about Democracy and whoever is paying attention sees this.
Sorry people don't like to hear it but the pukes are acting like fascists there's just no way to justify from a democratic train of thought that it isn't the case.
Shame shame shame history will show these republicans for the disgraceful undemocratic lot they are.

5. your right
I was going to add that's if Bush* doesn't nuke the world first will they be able to read about the disgraceful repukes.
It's obvious to me that republicans hate democracy they prove it every time they come into the House of Reps.

14. Remember Newt's (in)famous remark in 1994...
...after taking control of both Houses of Congress?

"We will cooperate, but we will NOT compromise!"

Sounds like the Repugs are living up to Newt's mantra, except it's up to everyone else to co-operate, while the GOP does not compromise.

And isn't compromise the foundation of a democracy?

16. Of course, we are not suppose to be a democracy.
We are suppose to be a representative Republic.

19. Benjamin Franklin
Benjamin Franklin was asked after the Constitutional Convention, what form of government had the founders decided upon. He replied "we have given you a Republic, if you can keep it".

21. "These Colors Don't Run"
What a lying witch, our colors have run throughout our history. They ran from the British several times both during the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812.

They ran during both Battles of Manassas, and several other Civil War
battles, during WWII we ran from the Phillipines, or was that a dish rag that MacArthur took with him, how about the 106th Infantry Division during the Battle of the Bulge, the unit was erased, or even the 1st Cavalry Division during Korea, and I don't remember seeing an American flag flying over Hanoi.

I am proud of the history of the US, well perhaps not all of it, but
to refuse to accept the fact that we have turned tail and run, is the creation of someone's fantasy world, that and it shows that dumbing down is also in the US Congress, not just the general population.

It pisses me off whenever I see those bumper stickers, because it's a lie. I would love to get a bumper sticker that tells the truth, something like:

These Colors Have Run, But Most of the Time Have Returned"

2. We won't get democracy right abroad until we get it right here!
I foresee massive riots throughout the US in the very near future.

Alcee is superman.

Republicans lying, lying lying--about this bill. Geez they sure do have all the points memorized and nary a one goes off.

Terra, terra, 9-11 connected in the same breath with Saddam. He was a threat and we freed millions of Iraqi people and gave freedom to women in Iraq. rape rooms and all the whole bit of lies said over and over and over by these lying robots.

Hastings is terrific--Barbara Lee also terrific

They have had their orders from Bush to blitz the people in his week long PR celebration of our invasion of Iraq

17. if this goes on, Dems should do what dissenters in dictatorships do
that is, dictatorships with window-dressing parliaments.

They should refuse to take part, in order to show the illegitimacy of the institution.

This is bullshit!

18. Something dramatic needs to be done!

This is one of the most undemocratic exchanges I have witnessed.
The demos need to stage a Day of Mourning - all dress in black and walk out and have a press conference just as they did for Clinton.
They should announce it so that wwe will be there to support them.
