Cops kill 6 students in clash - Nigeria
Akure, Nigeria - Nigerian police shot dead six trainee teachers and injured several more during protests over the imminent removal of the head of their college, officials said on Tuesday.

Emmanuel Adeyeye, spokesperson for the College of Education in the southwestern town of Ikere-Ekiti, said police fired into a group of demonstrators on Sunday after being called in to quell a demonstration.

The protest was triggered by reports that the state government had decided to appoint a new provost to replace Ade Adelodun who has been running the school since last year and has the support of students, he said.
