Mandela attack: Gunmen held
Ziegfried Ekron and Jan-Jan Joubert

Cape Town - A man is dead and two others are being interrogated after a foiled attack on former president Nelson Mandela's Cape Town home.

Members of the police national protection unit shot the man a few metres from the gates of Mandela's Bishopscourt home. The man was armed with an automatic assault rifle. Mandela was not at home.

Senior superintendent Selby Bokaba said three attackers approached the house in Forestry Road about 17:00.

"A black man, an Indian and a coloured man walked toward the gate. They asked to speak to Archbishop Desmond Tutu."

Bokaba said the guard explained that Tutu didn't live there, but that it was Mandela's house.

The men insisted on talking to Mandela.

They claimed they had information about people who planned to disrupt next month's elections, which they wanted to pass on to him. The guard said he would call his commander.

1. Bush getting back at Mandela for NOT supporting Junior's butching in Iraq?
yeah, Bush sent his squads to kill 95% of the people who didn't agree with him. Were you serious?

2. I think it's an old agenda ...

* has surrounded himself with deadenders from the Reagan/Bush administrations. They loudly hated Aristide back then, hence recent action in Haiti. They loudly hated Mandela and the ANC then, too, and did everything they could to prop up apartheid.

Lots of covert ops right now. * is after everybody.

3. Mandela must be supporting Kerry...
Bush is jealous. And you know Dick Cheney, like the criminal bastard that he is, wanted to keep Mandela locked up.

7. I think Mandela said a few years back ...
Edited on Wed Mar-17-04 02:52 AM by struggle4progress
that he just wanted out of politics. Anyway, I have little justification for my previous post except my belief that it's healthy to take a walk on the paranoid side from time to time.

 me ... but i am  anybody would target Mandela

<edit: nuance>

8. Yes, from what I understand, they surely wanted aparteid to continue.
What a shame they've never been "outed" publically on this issue.

Surely glad Nelson Mandela's life was spared this time by the good care of his guards. Hope the monsters don't find a way to do it sucessfully next time.

13. More attempts to destabilize black, brown, and yellow ruled countries
the PNAC agenda calls for world destabilization so that the victors will be the ones with all the WMDs. That's why America wants all other countries to disarm.

4. A black man, an Indian and a coloured man
What color was he.......white, green, orange?????

That is the most ambiguous statement I have ever seen.

Help me out here, is there a distinction in Cape Town between a black and a colored? I obviously don't understand the colloquialisms. Thanks

5. I think coloured may mean mixed race in this context
But I am not 100% sure. I think it was a bit higher up the apartheid pecking order than the other two.

6. Local "racial" classifications ...

I never bothered learning the old exact legal definitions under apartheid, which were bonkers. If I remember correctly "coloured" was any "any nonwhite except" sort of thing. It was the usual mystification of oppression by misdirecting attention to BS.

9. The Bush crime family never takes a coffee break.
You can almost bet that they're linked to this in some way either through association or directly.

10. Major forgiven by TRC -SANDF - IOL
He had joined the SA Defence Force (SADF), the predecessor of the SANDF, in the early 90s to gather inside information and acquire military skills, but told the TRC the army was suspicious about his motives and attempts were made to frustrate him.

14. Since they asked for TUTU ...
Edited on Wed Mar-17-04 06:04 PM by struggle4progress
I found this interesting

London 16 Feb.
Nobel peace prize winner Archbishop Desmond Tutu has called upon President Bush and Prime Minister Blair to apologise for their "immoral" and counter-productive invasion of Iraq and the arrogant belief that "might is right".... Tutu, the former head of South Africa ’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission, said the power of apology could salvage a dangerous situation. Bush and Blair could recover credibility if they said sorry, very sorry for the illegal war, he told the BBC early on Monday.
