Thursday, 11 February 2010

At least 12 people have been killed and about 20 injured in two bomb explosions near a police compound in north-western Pakistan, officials say.

The blasts happened in quick succession in the town of Bannu, some 260km (160 miles) south-west of Islamabad.

Unconfirmed reports say the blasts were caused by suicide bombers.

The two bombs went off just minutes apart near the Bannu training centre on Thursday evening, officials said. At least six police officers were among those killed in the blasts.
