Palin says 2012 presidential bid a possibility
Source: CNN.com

February 7, 2010 6:03 p.m. EST

(CNN) -- Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she would consider a run for president in 2012 if the situation was right for her family and the nation.

In an interview recorded Saturday and broadcast on "FOX News Sunday," Palin said she would run "if I believed that that is the right thing to do for our country and for the Palin family."

"I think that it would be absurd to not consider what it is that I can potentially do to help our country," Palin said, later adding: "I won't close the door that perhaps could be open for me in the future."

The interview was recorded before her keynote address Saturday night at what was billed the first national Tea Party convention. Palin, who had little national profile before running unsuccessfully for vice president on Sen. John McCain's Republican ticket in 2008, remains a leading GOP draw and an unofficial symbol of the Tea Party movement of conservative discontent with government.

4. And Mark Halperin (author of "Game Change") commented that SP's speaking fees
go waaaaaay down the minute she says she ISN'T running.

There may be motivation for being receptive in theory.

6. I doubt she'll run...
She won't be able to make it through the Republican primary. If a third party, however, asks her to be their nominee, I could see her accepting the nomination.

Or maybe even for just a 6 month term to see if she really likes the job or not?

If she couldn't stand "living in the fishbowl" of Alaskan politics, how would she fare being President of the entire United States of America? :eyes:

Palin is a self-serving jackass. Putting herself in the spotlight where all of her warts (literal, figurative and genital) would be exposed for all to see is not her style. She loves to poke sticks at everyone from the sidelines, where she can blend in and hide easier when the going gets tough. She's just another loud mouth GOP demagogue, and serving herself comes way before serving her country. :puke:

I don't think Palin can overcome that large margin.

9. Of course, that was the plan
All along, that is the money shot, and that is all she is interested in...everyone knows that, except of course those who have their head in the sand and believe in Gods, Demons and witchcraft like Sarah does...

13. PLEASE let her be a 3rd party candidate!!!
Best of all worlds!

1)NO ONE who would vote for her is EVER going to support Obama anyway...
2)ANY ONE who would vote for her would automatically be a REPUKE voter by default in a two-party election...
3)the pure comedy of watching her in a live debate would be priceless...

Independent voters in this country cannot possibly be so stupiod as to even consider voting for her...could they? <nervous>

18. She's in it for the money...
Every action she's taken while in/out of public office has been financially motivated.

She's more valuable as a potential candidate, so she'll be a potential candidate and haul home more cash.

24. She has no interest in governing....
If she was, she would have stayed on as governor.

She may not run, but if she does, it not be to win, but to turn a profit. Collect donations that will be funneled to family members who are on her payroll, and various other money laundering tricks.

20. This is scary as hell. It scares me a hell of a lot more than another terrorist attack,
Iran getting nuclear weapons, North Korea, or almost any of the other things we're supposed to be scared about.

When people laugh about Sarah Palin running it pisses me off -- how can anyone overestimate the intelligence of the average voter after 8 years of hell under Bush/Cheney??

21. Of course she's going to give it a try- and she may do well but
as soon as the media starts really focusing on who she really is, (some of which is currently in the hands of MSNBC), and of how much of a fraud she is, she will be stopped dead in her tracks. That is of course, if the media and the wimpy DNC aren't afraid to call her out on her bullshit once and for all.

Did anyone prominent from the DNC make any statement about Tancredo's disgustinly racist keynote address? If so, please share that with me- I may have missed it but it sure didn't appear that anyone except bloggers and a few reporters mentioned it. I want our party to stand up and call him out too.

I want Howard Dean back in control of the DNC. He and David Plaugh would be terrific together.

41. She won't run.
It is a LOT more fun to talk ill of the chaismatic man with the teleprompter than it is to be him.

This is the thing: Right now, Sarah's in the best position she could possibly be in. Fox built a television studio in her home. Around seven every morning she can get up, have a leisurely cup of coffee, relax while her stylist prepares her for the camera, go on the air and say anything she wants...she can go to any gathering she wants and speak...she doesn't have to sit around and worry about nuclear waste security or coal exports...and right now the people she goes around love her and would do anything for her. If she was president she'd have to worry about lots of things, the Secret Service wouldn't let her husband race snow machines or maintain the family commercial fishing allocation, the Sun wouldn't be using the "adorable" picture of her it has now...oh, and she'd find out at least 50 percent of the country disapproved of everything she did.

"Saying" you want to be president is far different from being president. Sarah would learn that quick. I'd give her a year before she resigned.
