Illinois governor races too close to call
Source: Chicago Tribune

The races for governor went down to the wire Tuesday night with razor-thin margins separating Gov. Pat Quinn from Comptroller Dan Hynes on the Democratic side and state Sens. Kirk Dillard and Bill Brady among Republicans.

The closeness of the contests, accentuated by a low voter turnout, left trailing candidates pondering recounts.

With 99 percent of state precincts reporting, Quinn and Hynes each had 50 percent, separated by less than 5,500 votes in a bitter contest.

Though Hynes did not concede, Quinn portrayed himself as the winner, saying, "The primary is over."

Incumbent Quinn is ahead in the Democratic primary by 5,500 votes. Think that's close? Here's how the Republican primary came down:

Brady 21%
Dillard 20%
McKenna 19%

Brady is ahead at this point by less than 1,500 votes.

3. Re; Quinn
The Vice Governor's office in Illinois is about as exciting and appealing as a bucket of used sperm from your local rural truck stop. Quinn never expected to be promoted, certainly not under these circumstances. Frankly, he has done as well as could be expected, given how badly Blogo fucked things up.

I would be satisfied with either guy.

What was surprising was how many folks decided to run for the Vice governorship.

4. I blame Rahm Emmanuel.
Illinois is going to have a Republican governor thanks to Master Strategist Rahm.
