Iran test-fires satellite rocket

TEHRAN, Feb 3 (Reuters) - Iran test-fired a domestically made satellite-carrier rocket on Wednesday, Iranian media said, a move that may worry Western powers who fear Tehran is seeking to build a nuclear bomb and missile delivery systems.

Western nations are concerned that the long-range ballistic technology used to put satellites into orbit can also be used to launch warheads, although Iran says it has no plans to do so.

"Iran successfully launches home-built Kavoshgar-3 satellite rocket," English-language television station Press TV said.

It said the rocket carried an "experimental capsule" and that it was the "first Iranian launch into orbit with a living thing", without giving details.

TEHRAN, Iran — Iran's defense minister says his country has successfully launched a new rocket carrying a mouse, turtle and worms into space for research purposes.

State television broadcast images of the launch of the Kavoshgar-3, or Explorer-3, rocket on Wednesday. State TV also showed officials putting a mouse, two turtles and about a dozen creatures that looked like worms inside a capsule placed in the rocket before it blast off.

8. Worthless. Until they hit the 1500lb mark

they can not deliver a warhead. That would assume they were using a small two stage w-88 type system. The atlas and MX were designed for the explicit purpose of delivering nuclear weapons and the weight limits are public record.

Poor turtles, i feel worse that they died than if someone were to drop a bunker buster in the next meeting of the ayatollah and nut-job here. This is clearly research for a nuclear delivery system.

Even if they could deliver a weapon they just face the threat of extinction if they use them.
