Blair's Iraq view 'changed dramatically' after 9/11
Edited on Fri Jan-29-10 06:05 AM by Turborama
Source: BBC

=snip=

He said: "I would fairly describe our policy up to September 11 as doing our best, hoping for the best but with a different calculus of risk assessment."

He added: "The point about those acts in New York is that, had they been able to kill more people than the 3,000, they would have.
"My view was you can't take risks with this issue."

He told the inquiry Iraq had shown "10 years of defiance" and had to be brought "back into compliance".

But he said the New York atrocities were key to the change in the "assessment" of the security risk.

Bliar hardly mentioned 9/11 during the build up to the Iraq invasion but he can't stop talking about it during http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x7598472">the inquiry.

1. The 911 changed everything excuse for war crimes
America's war criminals use it too ( and "good faith")

2. Would Blair please explain how Saddam and Al-Qaida are linked?
As I didn't see any link mentioned in the WMD dossier in September 2002.

4. Trying, but failing
He's basically saying he was scared a link could develop, and therefore he felt justified in the invasion. It's 'preventative war' - attack anyone who you feel might, in the future, become a threat. Highly illegal.

6. OK so I have a right to shoo Joe Bloggs because sometime in the future he might join up
with a violent gang and murder me. Yes, I'm sure any court would accept that.

5. Sounds like he's getting his talking points from the American Right
Also WMD has been disproved so he has to use 9-11.

What did Iraq have to do with 9-11 anyway?

What a worthless piece of crap Blair is!

to watch that lying bastard any more so I'll follow what's occuring here.

If you can get Sky TV News then it good to follow their twitter link in left window which also includes comments as to which questions maybe should be asked.Other than use twitter direct.

This is a good BBC link as it includes recap videos : http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/8485694.stm

Foreign Affairs Editor for Sky News and a recognised authority on such matters. His one is ITwitius .

Hopefully that's accessible in the USA etc as opposed to using any of Europe's World news services which only let outsiders access santised shit.
