Mayor wants city to run elections (FL)
By Joe Kollin | Florida correspondent
Posted July 9, 2003

WESTON -- Mayor Eric Hersh said Tuesday that he may try to get Weston to conduct its own elections after learning cities aren't required to use the services of Broward County's election supervisor.

City Attorney Jamie Cole said his research shows nothing in state law prevents cities from conducting their own elections.

"When we looked at it the last time, we were told we couldn't hold our own elections," Hersh said. "But if that's not the case, I would assume that we and other cities would look at the feasibility of conducting our own."

Hersh has been feuding for months with Supervisor Miriam Oliphant, who ran elections for the city in September, November and March.

1. You know something fishy I noticed at the last local election...
I live in a Republican county, so anything they do here has nothing to do with following the law. So, I found something VERY interesting which I wonder happens in other areas.

The incorporated areas of our city bleeds into the unincorporated areas of the county. What I mean is, that our city, which we'll call Country Club USA, is the mailing address for both the incorporated AND the unincorporated area. My friend lives in the unincorporated area. She told me that during the last election, she was given a ballot which included local issues for the incorporated area of the city. In other words, people who don't have to pay taxes to the city, but who can benefit from the city's public services, are voting on city issues!

So I wonder if, possibly, the mayor has a point if he can control who exactly gets a ballot.

2. its about voting machines
go to www,blackboxvoting.com ..on Scoop there is a scary story about how the computer voting machines can be re programed, and are in a regular basis. a leading republican is the CEO of the busisness and didnt disclose it !!! communities are getting more votes than regestered voters, ghost presincts appear regularly three republicans were elected with the same landslide tally count, a rep judge denide an innestigation, the company sent a new chip and the demos won handly.. the results had been changed but no investigation was allowed..there is a new good book by Bev Harris, Black Box Voting: Ballot Tampering in the 21st Century.
