US election fraud scandal looms?
(Can't vouch for site..)

Explosive conjectures and evidence

By Egan Orion: Wednesday 09 July 2003, 07:03

STEALING ELECTIONS is a sordid tradition in the United States, though it's certainly not unknown in some other countries, as well.
>From Tammany Hall's machine politics in the 19th century through Mayor Daley's grasp on Chicago elections, right up to Lyndon Johnson's first election and John Kennedy's 1960 cliff-hanger defeat of Richard Nixon, many US elections have been thought to have had "irregularities".

So much so that it's not really certain where "Vote early, and often!" originated, whether in Boston, New York, or Chicago. It is also well known that many lesser US cities had political corruption, including rampant election fraud, at one time or another in their histories.

Now a New Zealand political activist has published suspicions, along with supporting evidence, that electronic voting in the US is being manipulated by right-wing politicians with the connivance of several voting machine manufacturers. The story revolves around some highly volatile conjectures and might be explosive, if fully investigated.

2. Just like university voter fraud ...
Don't even need to be present to win ...

UPDATE: UAPD's SGA voter fraud investigation inactive
Investigators: SSNs sent to CW valid, from list used to cast fraudulent votes

http://www.cw.ua.edu/vnews/display.v/ART/2003/07/09/3f0b9bc44c3ae

Griffith said investigators determined the fraudulent voter(s) used a dated list of UA students' Social Security numbers and birth dates in combination with a computer program that could cast votes at high speeds.

"It placed at a speed that no one could possibly vote," she said.

The University used SSNs as student identification numbers last semester and set six-digit representations of students' birthdays as their initial personal identification numbers. Both numbers were needed to access the Internet voting system.

Sounds like an aspiring future Diebold employee to me ...

5. vOTING FRAUDS AND . . .
OF COURSE WE ALL KNOW THAT THE ELECTION IN 2000 OF GEORGE W.
BUSH BY THE FIVE MEMBERS OF THE SUPREME COURT WAS A COUP, SO I
DON'T THINK THEY WILL NECESSARILY TRY THAT AGAIN. WHAT REALLY
FRIGHTENS ME IS THE VERY DISTINCT POSSIBILITY OF A PUTSCH BY
CREATING SOME KIND OF SITUATION [LIKE THE REICHTAG FIRE]
DECLAERING MARTIAL LAW AND CANCELING THE ELECTION. WE NEED TO
BE AWARE OF THIS AND BE EVER VIGILANT TO PREVENT SUCH AN
OCCURANCE.

6. bush already hit the "TRIFECTA"

"He had always listed, throughout his campaign and since, the reasons why the nation might depart from this policy, reasons he had given as acceptable for running fiscal deficits: for war, recession, or emergency. As he said to me in mid-September, "Lucky me. I hit the trifecta."

12. Actually, that's another thing Bush lied about.
Bush never said that in the run up to the election -- Al Gore did. Bush 'stole' it and said HE said it when he decided it would be funny to make a joke about 9/11 to his donors (owners).

15. You've forgotten 2002
and Georgia. Along with a number of contested races with surprising results. GD has some mathmatical analysis of the liklyhood of fraud. Very interesting.

7. BEV HARRIS- The word is getting OUT!!
I haven't been following this closely, so was utterly AMAZED at the number of places affected by this techno-criminality during the 2000(?) election.

If this is your FIRST wave of publicity about the problem, I look for the later ones!!

9. Wanna really raise hell?
Edited on Wed Jul-09-03 06:16 AM by revcarol
Take a copy of this article to your county clerk or top election official!!
Spread the word!!

Edit: don't know whether this is part of the problem, but during the 2000 election, the first tally from Bernalillo county in the 2000 election(Albuquerque, NM, the most populous county) did not count ANY STRAIGHT DEMOCRATIC VOTES. Straight Repub. and Green votes were counted.Big HOWLS from local Democratic politicos, Oh, gee, we're only missing 12,000 votes,,,FINDING those votes changed the state from red to blue!! (Paper backup showed votes that the machines "just didn't record" in the totals.)

20. Election fraud
New Mexico has been screwing up election results for years. I lived there in 1948 when Henry Wallace was running on the Progressive Party ticket with Sen. Glen Taylor. In Taos county where we had our best organization we caught them NOT counting our New Party votes because they "didn't knoew how." And to get a recount we would have had to put up $100 for each ballot box to reopen them for recount and we would lose that deposit unless it changed the outcome of the election! Dylan said "the times, they are a changin'" but nothing has changed in 50+ years.

14. This is nothing new...
This appears to have been going on for even longer than Bev Harris realizes. I would encourage you all to check out a book called "Votescam: The Stealing of America" by James M. & Kenneth F. Collier. You can see excerpts and order the book at http://www.votescam.com/

This book details the Colliers efforts to get election officials to investigate ongoing vote rigging, starting in Florida in the early 70s and continuing though the end of the book in the late 90s. They provide fairly conclusive evidence that this rigging of elections has been commonplace throughout the US since the late 50s.

Before we can take back our country, we have to take back the election system!

16. Why is it...
Why is it that:

- My ATM always manages to know exactly how much money I have in my bank account?

- My cell phone and long-distance bill always manages to reflect exactly which calls I made for the month?

- My credit-card company always manages to know exactly what I bought this month?

- My subway card always manages to know exactly how many rides are left on it?

But when it comes to remembering who I voted for in an election, suddenly it's some kind of incredibly complicated black art?

Let's just keep things simple. Everyone should get a card issued to them when they register to vote, with a photo and a PIN, and then on Election *Week* (not Election Day), we vote for our #1, #2 and #3 choices (IRV - Instant Runoff Voting) - and the machine prints out a paper receipt for us to keep, and a separate paper receipt which we go and put in a separate box for an independent manual paper backup count.

The electronic count and the paper count are done by independent auditors and checked against each other and published, and we can also go onto the web and look up the counts and check them against our paper receipt.

And by the way, why are voting-machine companies privately owned? Why are their chief officers always giving so much money to the Republican Party or getting arrested for fraud? What the hell is going on here? This is pathetic. Can't we do better than this??

19. The problem with the electronic voter ID card...
is that your vote is no longer anonymous. If it's no longer anonymous, you can't vote as your conscience dictates, because someone else can look it up and hold you accountable. That road leads to dictatorship (especially under the USA PATRIOT act). On the other hand, unique IDs generated on the ballot using NCR paper to create a duplicate paper-trail copy (one for you, one for the "system") is an excellent idea, and one I've been advocating for some time.
