U.S. Military Deaths in Iraq - 558 U.S. service members have died

As of Friday, March 12, 558 U.S. service members have died since the beginning of military operations in Iraq (news - web sites), according to the Department of Defense (news - web sites). Of those, 379 died as a result of hostile action and 179 died of non-hostile causes, the department said. The department did not provide an update Saturday. snip

Since May 1, when President Bush (news - web sites) declared that major combat operations in Iraq had ended, 420 U.S. soldiers have died — 264 as a result of hostile action and 156 of non-hostile causes, according to the military.

1. More like 1800 Died
They only consider immediate deaths in the 558 count. When a medic takes a serviceman out of the line of fire, that person may be alive or dead, and so that person is not counted amongst the dead. Even if he dies minutes later.

totally totally false.

imagine the uproar of a family losing a loved one in battle and then not seeing their name on the list.

it isnt merely a tally, but a list

read the list yourself, many died in germany.

iraq can be debated well enough without inflating either side.

i realize you may think Im a freeper, as i have a very low post number, but go ahead and check this out yourself, refer to the list.

its horrible without that type of thing

and Pole who has died. A mass of luminarios for the dead Iraqis.
