3. It's Washington National Airport.
It was already named after a much better president.

25. I was having a conversation with a lady in a waiting room a month ago.
She kept calling it Ronald Reagan and I would call it Washington National when I replied. It became obvious as the back and forth ensued. I will never call it Dufus Airport.

32. Actually, I think that I am
more likely to call it "Dufus Airport" than I am ever going to call it "Reagan Airport."

Similarly, in Los Angeles, the attempts to re-brand the "Marina freeway" into the "Richard M Nixon" freeway failed, and
the attempts to change "The Simi Valley Freeway" into "The Ronald Reagan Freeway" have lost to people just calling it "The One-Eighteen"

34. The Ronald Reagan Legacy Project
The Ronald Reagan Legacy Project is an organization founded by Americans for Tax Reform president Grover Norquist that seeks to name at least one notable public landmark in each U.S. state and all 3067 counties after the 40th president.

43. I'll never use that name
I lived in DC 20 plus years. No native or even long-term resident calls it "Ray-gun". It's always just "National" and that's how it will stay as far as I'm concerned.

27. I was flying out of BWI and my flight was cancelled
The gate agent told me he could get me on a flight out of "National." I smiled and thanked him for calling it that. He said he could never ever call it anything else. I liked him.

6. National, goddamn it.
Except when I'm telling the story about the fundamentalist Christian teenager who was hitting on me while waiting for his flight home to Texas after attending an anti-abortion rally. Then it's definitely Reagan airport.

Maybe it'll hit home more as DC mirrors the rest of the country, and there will be less spent on toy projects, military gizmos, and speculative propaganda, and more will be spent on basic needs.
