Geithner: Job growth should resume by springtime
Source: Associated Press

WASHINGTON – Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner says he believes it's reasonable to expect "positive job growth" by spring and that people should have confidence about an improving economic climate.

In an interview broadcast on ABC's "Good Morning America," Geithner (GYT'-nur) also said he believes many banks around the country still have work ahead of them to regain the public's faith. He said, "They need to work very hard to shore it up" and said he wasn't certain that "all banks get it."

Geithner's stewardship of the Treasury has come in for criticism on occasion. He said on Wednesday, "I think most people would say the economy actually is strengthening now going into the end of the year," but that the key is to regain lost jobs.

private sector jobs created this decade and it will start in the springtime, why??

My job went to India in 2002 and I can tell you it isn't coming back and neither are those construction jobs or realtor jobs.

20. Don't worry, you won't be suffering alone. It's going through mine too.
:)

If you want to get rid of it, just watch Blazing Saddles or History Of The World Part I.

Should clear it right up. :)

"Geithner's stewardship of the Treasury" or did they mean "of Goldman"?

4. This Idiot Asshole is why Obama needs to Rebalance his Administration!
Presidents in past years when their polls start to sink always throw out the old and bring in the new to move their Agenda Forward.

For some reason I feel Obama like Bush will cling to those who "brung him in" rather than MOVE FORWARD.

I think that's sad because we elected OBAMA FOR CHANGE YOU CAN BELIEVE IN....and THAT OBAMA...would never have kept the idiots who are causing his POLLS TO DROP! The OBAMA WE ELECTED would be working right now to put in folks who were going to move forward his agenda...which was "HOPE/CHANGE/NOT YOUR OLD WAYS OF DOING BUSINESS"

OBAMA can do this CHANGE like Clinton and other Presidents have done...to RESHUFFLE for NEW PRIORITIES.

WILL OBAMA DO THIS?

23. It was so "Pretty," though. It rang true to those of us fighting Bush for years
The speeches were incredible. The language SOARED with HOPE for a BETTER FUTURE!

What Happened? Just "Branding/Marketing Success?" How sad if that is true. Where do we go from here?

7. What kind of jobs? I can't imagine.
In what sector of the economy could we expect growth? Retail -- no, people have to have jobs before they can buy things. Services? There could be a slight increase in demand due to the fact that people without work have delayed getting the services they need due to lack of money, but whether the people who provide the services will get paid is another question. Manufacturing? What. What is there that we could make that would be competitive in the marketplace considering that our employees have to compete with virtual slaves in underdeveloped places and our manufacturers have to comply with environmental standards that don't apply in so many countries.

I guess the public works projects are finally going to get going midway in 2010 as we approach the elections. Good work, guys.

17. And we should believe him - WHY?
Everything this guy has touched, he has screwed up. Suddenly, he didn't? He's George bu$h with green eyeshades and Ebenezer Scrooge and the Grinch - all mutated into one person.

All maybe Golden for Goldman (ohhhyes, thank you Little Timmy!) - but for the rest of us peasants, not so much. And just WHERE pray tell, Little Timmy, will these jobs be? The manufacturing sector is GONE. The IT and high-tech sectors are GONE. Unless these 'jobs' are the type where you ask 'do you want fries with that?' - then were does Little Timmy think they're coming from? ALL US jobs and manufacturing have been sent to Mexico, India, and China or they have been INsourced from those countries while qualified American workers sit idle and losing their homes.

What a crock of sh*t. I hope he's right. BUT - I'll believe it when I SEE it.
