Major Battle In Afghanistan;Taliban Retake District In Zabul
Jul 09, 2003
by Zafir Jamaal, JUS

Islam News has reported that there has been heavy in the Southern Afghan province of Zabul between the Taliban and Afghan forces and that the Taliban claim they have retaken the Atghar district.

This fight started one week ago when approximately a hundred Taliban Mujahideen suddenly attacked the southern Afghan district bordering Pakistan. Zabul’s governor Hameed Ullah told sources that approximately 80 of the Taliban members have now retreated and are surrounded in Atghar mountains. Ullah also said that five other suspected Taliban members have been arrested and large ammunition cache has also been recovered.

Hafiz Abdul Karim who is leading Taliban forces in this battle, told a Islam News reporter in a satellite telephone conversation that approximately 100 Taliban members have captured Atghar district. Karim said that the Afghan public forces have been fully defeated and ten Afghan officials have been killed including the leader of local police, Gul Mohammad. Five Taliban were martyred and three Afghan soldiers killed and five others injured in the battle.

1. You know why Bush is in Africa? Because everytime things get REAL
bad, they ship his sorry ass off somewhere. And I think it's because they feel they can stall and try to let the bad news cool of with the excuse that he's gallivanting around somewhere. And there's the added atraction of not having to hold their collective breath hoping the idiot doesn't say something really stupid and revealing like "bring 'em on".

This battle has been going on for a week? And we get the news when the Taliban announce that they've won and taken over the district? Pray tell, who were they fighting? Were there any Americans in this battle? Were there any foreign peacekeeping troops in the battle. If not, why not? No offense meant to anyone but, why else are they there if not to keep the Taliban from retaking territory?

This is nuts. We are losing Iraq, we've lost Afganistan between the Taliban and the warlords. Crap, what are we doing?

2. We let the adults steal the election......they're in charge now.
Didn't Afghanistan and Iraq get the RNC memo? We won the goddam wars! Now stop acting like it's your country or something.
