New Kerry Ad Exposes Growing Bush Credibility Gap
“Once again, George Bush is misleading America”

March 12, 2004

For Immediate Release
Washington, DC –

(this is a press release from Kerry Campaign)

In response to the false charges made in Bush’s latest round of negative television ads, the Kerry campaign released a new ad exposing Bush’s growing credibility gap.

The 30-second spot discusses how yet again the President is misleading the American people, except this time on John Kerry’s record. The ad sets the record straight about Kerry’s plan to cut taxes for middle class Americans, protect American jobs, get health care costs under control and cut the deficit to put the nation back on track. The ad will run in 16 states, including: Maine, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Iowa, New Mexico, Oregon, Wisconsin, Florida, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, Nevada, West Virginia, Arizona, Arkansas, and Ohio.
“We are determined to make this campaign about real issues facing Americans, like making health care affordable, improving education and getting our economy back on track,” said Kerry Campaign Manager, Mary Beth Cahill. “But when the Bush Campaign misrepresents John Kerry’s record or his plans for the future, we will not hesitate to set the record straight.”

Text of Ad:

Announcer: Once again, George Bush is misleading America. John Kerry has never called for a $900 billion dollar tax increase… He wants to cut taxes for the middle class. Doesn’t America deserve more from its president than misleading negative ads?

7. I'm telling you all.
Bush's credibility is the *only* real issue in this campaign. If Kerry keeps harping on that, the public will just assume the Bush attack ads are lies. After all, he lied about WMD. ;)

"Thank you very much for your generous contribution to the campaign. Your support helps the campaign build our team against the powerful special interests of George Bush. Together, we can replace their politics of hate and hostility with the politics of possibility and purpose.

While I am certain you are asked to give to many causes, your commitment to my campaign and to the larger political process is humbling and much appreciated."

I plan on making more as the time goes on, but he needs everything he can get right now just to counter the Bush* onslought that is to come. Please everyone go and contribute some even if it is only ten dollars.

19. speaking of donations...
You can do a search of any individual who has given to any federal campaign over the last 6 years (thru Jan 2004) at http://www.newsmeat.com

It's fun and addicting.

15. God Bless 'em (Kerry's peeps)... First thing I thought about Bush's ad...
...was the fact that the "raise taxes by..." line, left out whom (income levels) he'd raise taxes on, and who he'd cut taxes for.

In fact, I let out a sigh of relief.

I mean, sometimes, you think you're the only person out there who has these thoughts and ideas, and you figure all is lost and hopeless and you're screaming into the wind... but, ah... Kerry's camp puts out one like this, and suddenly, there's hope.

This election has good vibes written all over it for us, folks.

20. I'm starting to believe in Kerry.
He wasn't my first choice for the candidate. He wasn't even my third.

But DAMN, he sure is coming around since Super Tuesday. More power to him. He had my vote no matter what, but he might win me over on a personable level yet.
