BOSTON (AP) Massachusetts lawmakers took a step closer to approving a constitutional amendment that would strip gay couples of their right to marry, but the debate that has caught the attention of the nation was far from over.

are these people, who believe heterosexuals have the right to decide what homosexuals can and cannot do? How sick! I'm ashamed of my my state.

2. Do you think...
It's really becoming a referendum (not just in MA, but all over the country) in self identification?? Like, "I am straight, so I am voting to affirm my sexuality"?

The reason I ask myself that question is that when asked specifically about rights and privacy issues, people generally give a very supportive response. It isn't until it is framed in an antagonistic light (thanks freepers) that they have to vote the home team.

just a thought...
