Homeland Security Issues Transit Alert
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=542&e=3&u=/ap/20040312/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/terrorism_transit

<snip>

WASHINGTON - Homeland Security officials issued a bulletin advising state officials, police and transit and rail agencies to be vigilant in light of the bombings in Spain.

They were asked late Thursday night to consider additional surveillance and to look out for unattended bags and backpacks, Homeland Security spokesman Brian Roehrkasse said.

Homeland Security officials were keeping close watch on developments related to the terrorist attacks that killed or wounded about 1,400 train riders in Spain.

Based on the current assessment of intelligence "we have no specific indications that terrorists are considering such attacks on the United States in the near term," Roehrkasse said Friday.

9. Oh, yeah, his war has made us safer - we can't go on Orange now.
It would mess up his message that his war has made us safer if we were to go on Orange alert while he is celebrating his war and using it in his campaign.

4. what else has Bush done to protect us
over these years--except to order alerts--nothing much. Trains are still vulnerable and did he not even cut funding to the homeland security. I hate that name--when Kerry gets elected I hope the Democrats steer away from all of the fascist rhetoric. It is unbecoming this nation to trivialize by slogan our problems.

7. We have no specific indications that terrorists are considering
such attacks in the near term, Roerhrkasse said Friday.

So why issue the warning? The Administration's thinking makes no sense. We need a President who can wage the War on Terror credibly and competently. And that's not Bush.

8. It makes sense to me...
Follow the code:
...
While (Date() < November 2, 2004) Do
{
If (Bush_Poll < Kerry_Poll) Then
Terra_Alert++;
Create_Random_Divisive_Social_Issue();
End If
}...

Clear as a bell...

10. Can you add to that?
Can you code Create_Random_Divisive_Social_Issue() so we can anticipate and be prepared with answers to all the wedge issues they are going to try to deploy? If we define a position on them first, they can't misrepresent our position.

ps: I found COBOL was a good language for recipes.
