Honduras anti-drug chief shot dead by gunmen
Source: BBC

Gunmen in Honduras have shot dead the head of the country's anti-drug trafficking operations.

Police said retired Gen Julian Aristides Gonzalez was travelling in a car in the capital, Tegucigalpa, when attackers on a motorcycle opened fire.

Honduras is a major route for drugs smuggled from South to North America.

Gen Aristides said recently he believed smuggling had surged since the US limited anti-drugs co-operation with Honduras in protest at the ousting of President Zelaya in June.

Looks like Honduras is rapidly becoming even more of a narco-state, thanks in part to the bungling of the coup d' etat against Zelaya by Hillary/Obama.

There was a second assassination today, retired army Col. Osiris O'Connor Bain, a cousin of golpista president Micheletti. O'Connor was shot to death in the village of El Edén, about 100 kilometers north of Teguz.

7. This is going to have the police running themselves ragged, having to chase criminals,
in addition to their duties terrorizing, torturing, killing people protesting the coup and illegitimate government.

It will be more credible if they find actual drug people responsible, than trying to blame it on the people who oppose the coup, and ensuing savage behavior of the completely undemocratic power grabbers, as noted in statements from the major human rights organizations and the legitimate Latin American governments.

Assassination No. 1

Aristides Gonzalez in March of this year was charged with illicit enrichment while he served in the armed forces. Investigators said he had acquired nearly a quarter million dollars more than his military salary would have paid. His appeal was still in the legal pipeline when he was killed today.

He was hit by at least six bullets, cops said.

Assassination No. 2

Micheletti's cousin, retired Col. Osiris O'Connor Baín, was slain along with his father-in-law today about 100 kilometers north of the capital.
