RNC leader attacks Kerry on spy, '91 war votes
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-0403120262mar12,1,20633.story?coll=chi-newsnationworld-hed

Lashing out at Sen. John Kerry, the chairman of the Republican National Committee attacked the presumptive Democratic nominee Thursday night on a range of votes that Kerry cast in the Senate, citing his 1995 plan to cut intelligence funding and his opposition to the 1991 Persian Gulf war.

"If Sen. Kerry's policies were in place today, Saddam Hussein would not only be in Baghdad, he would still be in Kuwait," Ed Gillespie told hundreds of DuPage County Republicans at their annual Lincoln Day Dinner in Westmont.

Gillespie took the Massachusetts senator to task for his 1995 proposal to slash funding for intelligence by $1.5 billion over five years, pointing out that the proposal came two years after the first bombing of the World Trade Center.

"Sen. Kerry cannot expect to run on his record in the Democratic primary and then run from it in the general election," Gillespie said. "He cannot expect to question the president's policies during the time he has been president and then say it's not fair to question his policies during the time he has been senator."

...more slander here...

funny how the WP discredits this attack but the RNC and the *Cos can't figure out how to do anything but continue to lie

4. Did you see this?

"Gillespie also unveiled a new line of attack on Kerry, borrowing from the "Austin Powers" movies to call him a "international man of mystery." He chided Kerry for claiming he received encouragement from foreign leaders eager to see him defeat Bush but declining to name names.

And he noted a report in the Financial Times that described how North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il has permitted Kerry's speeches to be broadcast on Radio Pyongyang."

slimy bastards, this is the kind of slimy politics we were expecting.

5. I love it!
They are coming off as so desperate, dragging out these stupid lies one after the other.

I hope John keeps fighting back! We have to. The gloves must be off this time.

8. The RNC and Bush must feel good
The RNC and Bush must feel good about their chances...taking obvious slanders about Kerry's voting record and then attempting to paint a 'war hero' as a 'coward in Congress' really hinges on media complicity of chiming on the 'slanders'.

I am assuming that the GOP must know the Media will do to Kerry what they did to Gore, which was endlessly hammering away on 'factual incorrect' statements Gore supposely made.

Maybe the WP or even the NYTimes might provide the context and the discrediting of such nonsense, but most people get their news from cable these days, and it has been obvious that the 'anchored news programs' are increasingly removing political content/discussion and sending it over to the political pundit shows...

This is bad and ominous...

I haven't heard that term used for a while.. Could it be because dubya has flip flopped on so many issues that the point is moot??

11. Gillespie's Job Is On The Line
He's going to be the RNC's presiding officer of the next 1 term meltdown and he's sweating bullets. Watch the next TV appearance of this chinless, brainless, wonder. He's is grasping at straws and every nuance, word, and expression reveals it.
The Professor

13. Saddam got the green light from Poppy Bush to invade Kuwait.
Kerry, being a S&B man, probably knew what was up from the get-go. IMHO, Kerry voted against the Gulf War because he knew it was all a Carlyle scam to begin with. The Repukes ain't got a prayer in Hell against Kerry.
