Associated Press Writer= ATLANTA (AP) A city councilwoman says she plans to seek a recount in Atlanta's tight mayoral runoff.

The best understanding of some of the issues can be gotten by following the coverage of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Both candidates are nominally Democrats, but the state Democratic Party backs Reed.

1. Aside from the facts that she attended a GOP convention and she couldn't remember
whether or not she voted for Bush, I had serious issues with her incompetence on the Atlanta City Council.

The right person won. The city of Atlanta is in serious trouble and whether anyone in the state wants to admit it or not, it is the economic engine of the entire state. As goes Atlanta, so goes Georgia. I don't live in Atlanta, but I want to see the most qualified, able person in the position of mayor. Reed will do well.

2. Good to hear.
He sounded very strong from what I read, but I'm not local enough to judge.
