Palin Tricked By Comedian Again, Says Canada Should Drop Public Health Care
Source: Huffington Post

At a recent stop on her "Going Rogue" book tour, Sarah Palin told Canadian comedian Mary Walsh that Canada should get rid of its public health care system.

Walsh is the co-creator and star of This Hour Has 22 Minutes -- a nightly news parody show in the same vein as The Daily Show -- and she arrived in character, as the conservative Marg Delahunty, to the Borders where Palin (the "Alaskan Aphrodite") was signing books.

"I just wanted to ask you if you have any words of encouragement for Canadian conservatives who have worked so hard to try to diminish the kind of socialized medicine we have up there." Walsh shouted to Palin as she approached the table.

Palin's handlers tried to help her by ushering Walsh out of the Borders, but Palin could not be deterred. When Palin left the signing, Walsh caught up with her in the parking lot, where Palin suggested that Canada should get rid of its public health care system. "Keep the faith" Palin said, "because common sense conservatism can be plugged in there in Canada too. In fact, Canada needs to reform its health care system and let the private sector take over some of what the government has absorbed."

Edited on Sat Nov-28-09 03:10 AM by Stables2010
I dont even think Bush could bring himself to say those words "shame on me", so he had to change it up, always on those toes.

13. When asked to comment on a SCOTUS ruling other than Roe v Wade
She was stumped when asked to comment on a supreme court ruling other than Roe v Wade - she claimed it was an unfair question. I considered it a "soft ball" question since as Governor she had just released a statement on the Exxon Valdez SCOTUS ruling a month or two before the question was asked.

She really doesn't have it going on upstairs.

12. Remember during the campaign how she said if she didn't like the
question she would not answer, but just say what the Amurkan people need to hear or some such BS.

I fear she was saying exactly what she believes. It didn't matter that it was actually Mary Walsh.

Edited on Fri Nov-27-09 10:59 AM by HughMoran
A normal person would be distraught after dozens of completely moronic statements and would have difficult functioning. Some would have a nervous breakdown.

Ignorance really is bliss.

15. Some of our more doctrinaire Conservatives are big fans of it
A good chunk of the federal Conservatives, and no small number of provincial ones - though they vary much more - not only consider Canada an American puppet or satellite state, but like the idea. We've had elections where the Conservatives' primary plank was their anger at an insufficiently deferential attitude towards the US, most obviously during the buildup to the Iraq war.

Harper's crowd in particular is pro-American and anti-Canadian both; he's been very explicit about wanting to change our legal and governmental systems to line up with the US to the point of wanting to toss the Constitution with some regularity.

17. Outside of media-poor Americans, NO ONE wants our HC system.
We just don't have a media to reach Americans. All we have is a purchased time media that watches out for purchasers at the expense of the people and our Republic.

20. She should really keep her mouth closed about our health care.
Edited on Fri Nov-27-09 08:17 PM by polly7
Until she learns the name of our PM, she should actually keep her mouth closed about Canada, period. I doubt she knows the first thing of how our system works and is too intellectually lazy to find out. Go away, Sarah, you're just an ordinary citizen talking smack about something way over your head.
