Senate panel passes climate bill
Posted by Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor November 5, 2009 10:02 AM

The Senate environment committee this morning passed a sweeping climate change bill co-sponsored by Senator John F. Kerry.

The vote came without any Republican support -- in fact, no GOP senators were present because they were boycotting the proceedings until a fuller economic analysis of the legislation.

The panel did not consider any amendments to the bill, which will now be merged with bills being written in other Senate committees, the Associated Press reports.

In the face of the GOP boycott, Kerry, a Massachusetts Democrat, announced Wednesday that he, Republican Lindsey Graham, and Independent Joe Lieberman are trying to find a compromise that could draw a modicum of bipartisan support and pass the Senate. In June, the House passed its own version, co-authored by Representative Edward Markey of Massachusetts.

1. what's the point
of even trying to get bi-partisan support? The GOP won't go for any bill the Dems come up with no matter how watered down and corporate friendly it might be.

The Dems could take a bill written by a Repug and put their name on it and it still wouldn't get their support.

For the Republicans it's all about obstruction of all things Obama and Democratic. Period.

3. And I'd just like to say FUCK YOU, James Inhofe.

You are my Senator, and you are a lousy Senator. A disgrace to the people of Oklahoma. You are an oil company whore, spreading your legs to take it from them, then turning around and crapping on your constituents.

You talk about family values, yet you and your brother were involved in a nasty legal battle and didn't speak for years. So much for family values, eh?

You are a liar, a bigot, a hypocrite, and Oklahoma ranks last in many areas involving quality of life. This is due in large part to your lack of leadership and your corruption in catering to corporations while ignoring your duties to the people of the state.

Fuck you, Inhofe. Go to hell and take the rest of your Republican cronies with you, you sorry piece of shit.

(Thank you for allowing me to vent, I feel better. Please continue with the discussion.)
