Gloom Spreads on Economy, but GOP Doesn't Gain
Source: Yahoo

Americans are growing increasingly pessimistic about the economy after a mild upswing of attitudes in September. But Republicans haven't been able to profit politically from the economic gloom, according to a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll.

The survey found a country in a decidedly negative mood, nearly a year after the election of President Barack Obama. For the first time during the Obama presidency, a majority of Americans sees the country as being on the wrong track.

But a dark national view of how everybody in Washington is conducting the public's business appears to be preventing Republicans from benefiting from concerns about the direction of the country or the Democrat-led government's handling of the economy, as the minority party often does.

In fact, disapproval of the Republican Party actually has ticked upward, along with the public's general pessimism. Asked which political party should control Congress after next year's midterm elections, Democrats now hold a clear edge over the GOP, 46% to 38%, a month after the Republicans were nearly as popular. In September, the Democratic edge was 43% to 40%.

5. They have no solutions.
Ever hear them talk about banking reform? Job creation? Reducing health care costs? Helping small businesses?

They've become the party of whining about irrational nonsense.

3. America hasn't forgotten who was in charge while George W. Bush was
driving the country into the ditch.

And all the Republicans were in back telling him what a great job he was doing. :puke:

Plan to be out of power for a long time, GOP.

Nor who was driving when we eked out a surplus....and where it went. Remember that $300 dollar tax rebate?

Neither does anyone else. No one with a brain will sell out for so cheap again.... I hope.

Oh.... BTW..... My BCBS premiums just went up about $100 a month..... thank you. Am I supposed to blame Dems for that?

I. Don't. Think. So.

4. We don't have too much time to get serious about financial re-regulation
Sure, the Repukes could keep acting like assholes, but we shouldn't count on it. Eventually we'll be blamed, especially if health care reform produces no benefits for anyone until 2013.

6. Like they have time to worry about the economy?
They have little time left after worrying about what condiments Obama uses on a burger or what kind of dresses Michelle wears. Personally, I thank God they are sticking to what they do best and leaving the real issues to the big boys.

9. Because The GOP Was Responsible And Is Now Doing Nothing
Except for Fox viewers, I think most people can see that the GOP is very cynically trying to run out the clock and do its best to sabotage President Obama's efforts to revie the economy, reform health care, and the financial system. If the GOP wanted to help solve the problem, they could. However, they have very clearly tried to ensure the failure of the Obama presidency for political gain.
